Just watched that again for the first time in a while with my buddy, awesome flick, love Kubrick.

Watched 8MM lastnight. Though Nic Cage isn't the greatest actor in the world, this movie was F^*#!&@ intense. I give it a 9/10, I'm a sucker for revenge flicks.

As the director. Writers and producers don't mean squat, you being a Transformer fan should know that. My biggest beef was how the women were portrayed as whores and sluts. I gave it a 6/10, the same I gave Dark of the Moon. Had it's moments (I really did like the dude who played Xavier, Mr Tumnus I tend to refer) but there are things in it that could have been better.

Last movie I saw was tonight, Drive. Disappointed. Give it a 6/10, but it was extremely boring in many parts. There were these long periods of people just starting, and it was annoying, not art. But, it's worth seeing it for Ron Pearlman alone, he's brief in this, but a riot!

Screamers: The Hunting. Essentially Screamers 2.

The original Screamers is one of my favourite films. This sequel obviously was never going to be that good. The story is poor, the characters forgettable, and the final twist and ending predictable. It should be in my toilet list. But there's still some small appeal to it with the over the top deaths. It's an okay companion film to the first, even if it's not that great by itself.
But I picked it up from Poundland for a quid (obviously) and it included the original Screamers with it. So technically it only cost me 50p each film. Who can really complain about that?

So, score for Screamers: The Hunting? Probably a 2/10. Saved only by the gory deaths.

Finally got to watch the entirety of The Big Lebowski after seeing bits an dpieces on TV and Youtube

    8.5/10

Although, I might have to rewatch it again to reevaluate it. I hope The Dude abides.

Also, got to watch Thor for the first time on DVD and the fourth time I've seen this film.

    9/10

My mom saw it with me and she felt sorry for Thor more so than Loki. She's also pumped for the Avengers after I showed the special feature.

Jeremy Irons was the only reason i watched it for. Couldn't care about Eragon or the Dragon only Jeremy Irons.

Thor - 10 out of 10. IMO the best of the movies so far. Then again I love epic.

XMen First Class - 9.5 out of 10. Would be a ten, but as much as I want to I can't forgive the changes. Especially Emma being Charles age and Havok being older than -and not related to- Cyclops. Other than that, I absolutely loved this movie. Why couldn't X1 be like this! I loved the cameos especially ("go f*ck yourself!").

I've watched a lot of movies lately. They were all good, for the most part. I'm still not a huge fan of Titanic, but I respect it enough. Red wasn't too bad either, but not great.

    Star Wars IV - 9.5/10
    Star Wars V - 10/10
    Star Wars VI - 9/10
    300 - 8.5/10
    Titanic - 7/10
    The Thing - 9.5/10
    Thor - 9/10
    X-Men: First Class - 9.5/10
    Source Code - 8.5/10
    Red - 7/10

Hiraga, explain why Titanic got a 7/10. I think it's almost as overrated as Avatar.

If a movie is overrated, that isn't the movie's fault, that's the public's fault. I hate Avatar for plenty of reasons, I don't care at all about it's success and publicity. Same with Titanic.
I AM being generous with that score. But I thought that overall the film depicted the sinking itself very well. I suppose if I'm to be a bit more critical, I'd give it a 6/10. I hate the fact that they chose to make up a story, when there are plenty of more interesting, REAL stories to tell. But overall, I thought the movie was well made, at least. The writing wasn't super awful, the acting was good, the effects were great (they didn't use CGI all over the place, which they probably would have today), the sets were VERY good, and Billy Zane was hilarious.

But a movie being overrated never effects the film itself, for me at least.

It can for me, as I'll go into a movie that has got such praise, like Avatar, and be thoroughly disappointed with it. I think Titanic had decent acting, but the story was nothing special, and nowhere near Best Picture worthy.

Oh, there's no debating that. Although I thought the acting was good, not great. But Good Will Hunting or Men in Black totally deserved the Best Picture awards WAAAY more than Titanic.

Don't know where Men in Black came from, but I rather liked Good Will Hunting.

I really like both of them. That wasn't me being sarcastic, I legitimately think that either one deserved the award more than Titanic.
