I like the gun , but I always remember seeing the G2/Gi joe comic and seeing "Megatron TANK!" for the first time . For me that was him going to the next level

 

Of course the gun is impratical. In g1 their alt mode wasn't a choice. I like to think the ark/teletran was screwing over mega on purpose.

 

Gun. It's as basic a killing instrument as you get that would suit a Transformer.

 

I'd like to see a triple changing Megatron.

 

Tank. Turning into something that requires the assistance of a minion and that can be easily turned on your own troops is just stupid.
Tank still has massive firepower, but now has very heavy armour and great mobility. Its a complete upgrade in every way. Well, except stealth, but stealth isnt his job.

Then again, Im one of the crazy people who think Shockwave works better as a Cybertronian Tank/Jet so feel free to disregard.

 

I say tank, it's not only much cooler and impossing as an alt mode but it fits his personallity far better.

Gun and always gun for an earth mode. We have so many other reboots of transformers to allow Megatron to have a tank, jet or whatever alt mode. It's not so much the gun mode that I'm attached to (although I think it makes him fantastically unique as a leader) but I love how G1 megs looks in bot mode, and the other alt modes always take away from that. I hate the current Megs design in IDW for that reason. It's an excellent design, but it stops Megatron looking like Megatron to me.

 

How do you figure that? just because he has a gun alt doesnt mean he isn't in charge of firing himself.

Also, being a brutish tank seems below Megatron, while extraordinarily powerful, his aggression was always more of the 'crush you with my bare hands' type than smash 'em as a tank.

Mobility isn't an issue. He can fly in bot mode, with access to all the same weapons, and stealth wasn't really an issue.

 

From the list I've only encountered G1's gun & WFC's Cybertronian Tank modes. Being too young to have grown up with G1, I have to admit I've always found the concept of turning into a weapon someone else has to utilise to be a little.. Odd. Not that I have anything against it or anyone who favours that form, it's just something that doesn't sit right in my books.

That, and the fact that I simply love the design of WFC Megatron~

 

as much as I love g1, I was never a huge fan of him being a gun. I had no problem with Galvatron being a space cannon, but I'm not a fan of mass shifting at all.

I prefer him being a tank or even better something that flys. If they're on earth screw cybertronian vehicles as well.

Anyway, I freaking LOVE his current IDW design so I'll vote that, but while it's ******ed you gotta give the gun mode credit for ending up into his classical robot mode design.

Trust me something airbourn works for Megatron, The only reason why not a tank because it's be done way to often.


Hell i'l try to think of a idea on how to make classics Megatron as a bomber jet.

 

Why wasn't there an option of truck?

 

The question is about G1 and/or G1-related alt modes.

 

The episode with Autobot Spike. He turns Megatron on his own troops and opens fire.
This is after he instructs Spike to keep firing too.

Im sure there are other instances, but thats the main one that comes to mind.

A gun of that size is quite useless most of the time.


Cybertronian tank for me, besides in any 1 continuity there was only at the most 1 tank as far as i know (for the decpticons that is)
