Whoa! The Halo figures actually look quite good! Who's the solider standing beside the red coloured one? Its a pity I have never played the Halo games as the figures look pretty nice!
The green spartan is from the multiplayer side of the game he is a Spartan EOD you unlock the armour by beating the game on heroic I think
Thanks for the reply, dude as I have not seen that Spartan in any game shots! But then again, I have never played a Halo game! LOL!
Just to clarify a couple things. Takara DMZ figures DO have diecast. Its in the lower leg. That center spine of the lower legs that pops out during 'down form', that whole inner structure is painted diecast. Also, DMZ-04 Rabidlydog has diecast claws as well. To help the figure balance in extreme sliding poses, some DMZ feet can be disassembled and you can insert more metal to fill up the feet, keep them from falling in extreme off-balance poses. Takara DMZ figures are fully painted, while Yamato 1/12 barely has any paint on it. Mostly bare plastic. So its a bit misleading to say Yamato's got a better paint job. DMZ has painted on markings and weathering. But Yamato excels in size and has more inner details and removable panels that DMZ lacks. Yamato early releases has floppy joints and have trouble supporting its weapons, but got improved at later releases. Takara has a lot of ratchet joints starting DMZ-01, so DMZs has a sturdier structure and holds accessories very well.
I just bought a CM's Assault Rane Custom. I know it's a gamble quality-wise, but for the price I had to bite.
I have this one. Yamato 1/12 Votoms Scope Dog Red Shoulder Figure - eBay (item 320680736619 end time May-04-11 02:59:51 PDT) It's awesome. The cockpit is very detailed. Plus I got then figure to go with it.
Damn. I used to think Scopedog was ugly but I began to appreciate it when I got older. Always wanted to watch votoms but haven't seen much. The toys look great. Are the 1/18 takara ones better than the yamato 1/12 ones?
IMO the diecast ones have a more "solid" feel? I think its because of the diecast content? Darn...I really can't recall but I do own the Yamato one and I really love it. I'm regretting not getting the "pilot" figure!
Having both a Yamato 1/12 and a DMZ 1/18, I'd say ... they're pretty similar. Awfully similar. Suspiciously similar feeling, even. The Yamato feels a lot like a sized up DMZ in terms of joint and structural design, and trades the gorgeous paint of the DMZ versions for its mondo size. I'd say get a Yamato only if you want a shelf hog (or can find one really cheap) and are pondering doing some custom painting, because it's a pretty great canvas for it - almost everything is easily disassembled (I was only stonewalled by the rotating visor cameras on mine - worked around that by just careful brush painting) and it's got plenty of space for you to work on. It's just more than a little dull without any custom work. The Yamato is definitely a big boy.
Since I'm expecting CM's Rane custom to arrive, and I'm also in the mood of gettiing the AT-Pilots set, it crossed my mind to try and make a diorama depicting an AT pilot reporting to a front line commander who will be overlooking the battlefield standing beside his 4x4 vehicle. I'm open to suggestions on what 1/35 modern army models should I use for this diorama? I would prefer the vehicle to not be well known and look the part of the VOTOMS universe.
Is there anybody here who has the 1/48 Actic Gear ATs? I'd really like to see some cool pictures of them.
My CM's Assault Rane Custom Scopedog arrived today. I'm slightly overwhelmed. I didn't expect him to be this small, and plastic quality is the same as my brother's Revoltech Super VF-1A. Basicly it's a display piece that you can pose and leave it on display for a few months before you change the pose. I would have been pretty miffed if I payed full retail price for it. I was able to buy it for $26 shipped to Europe, so I'm not pissed at the overall quality. It's just that I expected to be able to have it on hand and be free to fiddle with it from time to time. I'll post some pics of it, when I resize them and upload them. All of the above leads me to a question - how's the overall quality on the Bandai 1/20 models? Can they be fiddled with after assembly, or are they just display pieces as well?
Pics of Assault Rane custom Scopedog, as I promised. After fiddling with it for the photoshoot, he has grown on me more. I like his proportions, and he does have a certain heft to him. Previously I compared him to a Revoltech Valkyrie concerning plastic quality, and while he's just over a centimeter taller, he seems twice heavier than a Valkyrie.
The details seem pretty good - if you hadn't said he was revoltech height I would have presumed it'd be the same general size as a DMZ just from looking at him.
He's about 2/5 of an inch taller than the non-transformable Revoltech Valkyries and alot bulkier. And it might not be seen in the pictures, but the main lense is translucent green plastic, it's not painted over as CM's tends to do to certain Votoms figures, which is nice touch. As for the details, while it has a sufficient number of details, Max Factory ATs have even more. Considering the size of both CM's and Max Factory ATs, there are certain overkills when all is taken into account. The amount of detail on Max Factory ATs is an overkill in that due to the size of the figures all those details can't be seen if you don't take a really good look at them, and as for the CM's ATs overkill is the ability to go into a down form. It just makes the legs fiddly and joints somewhat loose (my Scopedog's legs are kinda loosish, like the legs on Generations Tracks).
Woah, I didn't know about this thread! Lemme post pics of my Dog! Damn, I have been after a DMZ 1/18 or Yamato 1/12 red shoulder for over a year now and still haven't found one that's not outrageously priced. Who wants to sell me theirs?? I know somebody wants to make room on their shelves for more transformers....
