So, I finally got my hands on a Reveal the Shield Windcharger.

Well, hands aren't on it yet, but it's on the way. For a total of $35.

So, for those who have managed to find this most elusive of figures...

    ... the ultimate question...

    Open it or not?

Wouldn't think twice if it wasn't for the fact of its rarity and that I had to pay more than 3x what it should have cost. I'd open it. But when I pay this kind of money, then I pause.

I have a problem with mine. Somebody took a black magic marker and colored over the autobot logo.

Open, simple, but elegant tranformation scheme.

I think it's insanely stupid not to open a Transformer, unless you have a G1 MIB.

I can't really say what you should do. I'm not a MIB person, but if you feel that it'll be worth something you may as well. It's an exceptionally bland (but solid) toy that has been way overhyped in the States due to distribution. Got mine at UK retail back in February opened it and barely remember I own it. Its sitting in a box full of other stuff in a cupboard since about then. Like I say, he's bland and is a character who basically never did anything but die in the movie.

Well, for me - and maybe others - it was a beloved G1 minibot, one most if not all had "back in the day," so the nostalgia pull is strong.

I know I had one. Now all I have is the reissue keychain.

And yeah, it being "HTF" probably made those who wanted one want it even more. I think it sucks I had to pay what I did to get one, but I paid less than some. I blame Hasbro for this.

id feel like a fool paying that much for it and going through all the trouble to just let it sit in its package.

not sour grapes or anything, but i paid more for mine and opened him, and i know if i just let him sit in his card i would sell him again out of sheer boredom. he looks good standing with the rest of the classics on the shelf!

however, its your prerogative at the end of the day, all i can offer is an opinion :)

Why is everyone so obsessed with Windcharger? I understand its rarity could be a factor but it's hardly special.

I am a newbie collector so maybe I'm missing something.

It's just there's one sitting in my local Tescos for £8

Only keep him in the package if you plan to resell him for profit. Otherwise, open him. And remember, RTS stuff is still showing up at Ross/TJ Maxx/Marshalls. Windcharger might still turn up there, and if he does, his resale value will plummet.

It's not like it's a MISB Artfire. Free him from his plastic prison!

I opened mine the day I bought it, it didn't disappoint. Now mine is next to Alt Windcharger.

Open it - the figure is rare enough that you'd probably not lose anything if you sold it opened in a year or two anyway.

It's a fun figure, very flexible, and a great head sculpt.

He's a season 1 G1 cartoon character, so that already makes a bunch of fans want him to complete their Autobot cast. And the last toy he had was an Alternator that didn't look very much like the cartoon.

Open it. He's fun. He's got a simple and fun transformation, good posability, and looks great in both modes.
