You can see where the split is in the photos, it's right above the door on the front of the leg. It shouldn't take any force, it's not a ratchet joint.

 

Too bad the price for the 2010 Unicron has risen to almost $200 because hes the best of the three. I really dont like the bright silver look on this guy.

 

It's really one of those things were pictures don't do it justice and the flash really makes that silver shine. It's a lot more subtle in person and is actually perfect when looking at it in person

 

Nice repaint and new head but I aleady have the old Armada version and held up pretty well in my collection so far.

Well, mine arrived on Monday, but I didn't get a chance to open him until Tuesday.

For those who don't yet have the Unicron experience, this guy is big. In package, he's even bigger!




As has been mentioned before, he has green lenses in his eyes, but they still used a red LED. Really, how much would a frakking green LED have added to the cost!



As Valkysas mentioned on his, mine also has the gap in chest plates. While the gap is a little bit more than my Armada version, I think that the Armada chest piece is better at hiding any problems due to the clear plastic.

For me, the new colors work great. I think that the silver looks much better than the standard gray plastic look. I also like the overall darker tone. I mean, he is the Chaos Bringer!

The joints on mine are all very tight, especially the hands. I actually had to use a little force to move his fingers the first time. I'm definitely glad I picked him up. He has now replaced Armada Unicron in my 1986 movie display. Now, to find a place for my Armada Unicron before he gets angry!

 

I concur. In some of the lower quality pictures he looks like crap, but in really good clear ones he looks awesome and he seems like one of those figures that would be nicer in person. The Takara one is just more photo friendly.

Also, are you able to see the QC issue with the two same sided planet parts in the box?

I'll be shocked if there isn't a recast of the head to sell for the armada figure sometime soon... actually... kind of surprised that hasn't been done yet.. Sorry about the QC problem you had with yours though, that kind of blows..

 

My Unicron, came with two left ankle pieces, so his foot on the one side can't flatten out all the way. I guess I'll have to shave the tab down on that side.
Otherwise he's gorgeous. I love the paint, the new smaller head makes him look way bigger too, just from scaling down his head. It's pretty cool how proportions can change how big he looks.

 

Well, if you have two left ankles, somewhere out there has two rights. You could hope to do a trade, if you can find them. Worked for me and captclueless.

My Unicron just arrived today and while I'm overall pleased with him to fill my '86 movie shelf, I am disappointed with the QC issues it seems to have.

Most notably, any parts that are held in by friction are horridly loose. His wing pieces don't hold a position very easily and his crotch and stomach pieces like to fall off. I don't know if the culprit for the problems is the tiny nubs or the flexible plastic. I've never owned a Unicron mold before this, so I can't say if the original didn't also have the same issues.

Other than that, everything else is great about the figure. Especially the ratcheting joints. If you got it for $60, it's a great deal. I wouldn't pay for any of the markup prices given the problems, though.
