This looks interesting.

I already own all the CD Devastator Upgrades and I'm very happy with them, but more-than-likely I'll be buying this set as well... I just hope the final product does not resemble CD's too closely and that the price point is below $100 for the set.

This year is turning out to be all about Devastator and that's actually cool since Devastator was the first TF Combiner / Gestalt and it's about time Devastator got the love... CrazyDevy, TFC, Maketoys and now JB... Bring it on!

Hopefully, next year will be about Menasor!

 

Funny that 2011 is the year of Devastator (well, his year will probably expand to 2012) considering he was the big deal in 2009 in ROTF...

 

THAT Devy has been the worst deal in 2009 imo  

 

This set might be cheap, but it doesn't retain the G1 feel of the CD stuff imo.

 

I'm hoping that this set will have notable differences from the upgrades released by CD making it stand on its own rather than being a carbon copy.

 

Hey who knows, maybe these won't butcher your G1 figures! I'm interested.

I would like to inform you just in case you have no clue that OTHER Combiners DO exist, they really do, honest and for true they do exist cross my heart and hope to die stick a needle in my eye they do exist.
Please stop making Devastator upgrades and give some love to ummmmm maybe the Stunticons, Protectobots, Aerialbots, Seacons to name just a few.

Are we looking at 2 heads or will it be one of those?

If the price is right I wouldn't mind this set for my Encore release.

They need to get this out before Encore's release. Because CD is sold out of a lot of stuff for Devi and this is a buy all at once thing, this project may make killer sales.

I just hope its not the same clear plastic they used in their other upgrade set for Predaking, and that its a solid color.

 

I look forward to this set as well... this is an all-in-one set which really beat CD out by miles... plus i think the price won't be as high...

However, i think they should wait until Encore releases first... so they can make sure the upgrade works with Encore... I heard Encore Devy is not the exact same mold as the G1 counterpart... so there might be some small changes to the parts... they may not exactly fit in place... beware!!!

Oh, and I just verified from their weibo page... indeed, there are two heads for this set, one to mimic the cartoon style and one to mimic the toy style...

 

While this is cool in certain regards, it is really annoying in other regards:

1- I would have loved a proper set for Predaking. I think the rest of the G1 combiners looked like ass, but Predaking could have been pimped to work well with even classics.

2- They are doing the same shit as Crazy Devy. Where is the creativity in that. I would have much rather prefered them to find a way to:
- give proper shoulder articulation
- A better way for him to stand
- Better hip/waste articulation

In other words take what Crazy Devy did poorly and make it better. Not take what Crazy Devy did and make it the same.

This is when KOing gets ugly. When readily available items are duplicated by another company. At least with other KOing, you get non readily available items.
