Well, though I still need to pick up issue 24, I'm getting a better feeling from this preview than 24's. This storyarc genuinely interests me and it feels decently paced enough for a comic.
After having read this preview, I get the feeling that the "Chaos" portion of Chaos is most assuredly "Side B" of the bi-weeklies if #24 was any indication. There's nearly as much meat on the bones of these couple pages as the whole of #24.
I think both were originally planned, always (the ongoing has CLEARLY led up to Chaos deliberately) but Chaos was gonna be a standalone or something at first.
Looks good I like where the book has been headed for the last several months... minus the random pointless characters deaths that we saw a couple issues ago.
Why do the Autobots care if Spike killed Scrapper? Like no Autobot has tried or has killed a Decepticon before.
Because spike hasn't told anyone. he's gone behind their backs. If they can't trust him to tell them he killed one of their enemies, how far can they trust how he acts with them?
damn, I try to see the preview and my browsers just freeze... once and again and again =( is there any other way to see the preview?
It kept crashing for me, but if I skipped over page 3 (the first story page) the rest of the preview worked for me.
This is a different situation, Spike sought out Scrapper and killed him in cold oil without being provoked. Yes Scrapper has served in the death of several humans but there are rules to war and I would think Autobots would use lethal force as a last resort(or at least that's what Prime would want). Plus, if Spike is capable of doing this to Scrapper, it's likely he has or will do this again.
Jesus effing...do these people take scripts from Law and Order or something? Where the hell is the comic side. All I see anymore from ANY of these "comics" are over serious robo lawyers with an over acted sense of sudden militarization. Its fucking TRANSFORMERS. Anyone even seen Prime and Megs have it out lately? The art is wonderful but whoever is writing this needs to go do an X-Men series and quit clogging up Transformers with their over dramatized crap. From what I see here the writer has not only forced the artist to draw bureaucracy but glorified number crunching deskbots! Remember when Teletraan would be like "Prime get yo ass to the dam. Decetibaddies are stealing energon", and prime would be like "Roll out guys lets go kick deceptibutt". Everyone had a good time. Now its all trust this, overshadow that, sulk, loathe, hate, scribble on energon notepad about all my woes on urth. What the hell? Do these people even know anything about these characters? When was Bee ever a paper pushing bot...and why the hell is he using a cane..THEYRE NOT HUMANS THEYRE FREAKIN BOTS. Ratchet cant repair him? Im sorry but these "comics" have been agging me for years with this slowly turn them more and more human and deteriorate the soul of the original concept more and more crap.
Have you read X-men lately? Their writers know how to make a good story plus they realize that they have too many compelling characters to be wasting time with boring annoying ass humans. So don't put Marvel in this! They know what works. And last time I checked Cyclopes and Magneto haven't been on any detective capers to find out why some lame ass human killed Collossus!
Not the most exciting preview I've seen. It looks like this issue will have more story in it than #24, but I'm not sure how good that story is going to be. I'm glad that Spike (hopefully) has some comeuppance coming, but I hope the pace picks up a little past these first few pages.
I am not a fan of Mike Costa's Transformers work for the most part, though I thought his Ironhide miniseries was alright. I don't know about you, but besides perhaps the earliest Transformers stories, Transformers (in particular, the Autobots) have been depicted with humanising elements and personalities to make them relate-able to the reader, and to remind us that they're not just robots, but they're aliens. I'm not sure what you would like Transformers to be. Your cartoon-based description of Autobots is not particularly compelling. For example: Prowl in various comics is an uptight, logic and regulation-minded prick. Nick Roche and James Roberts (perhaps picking up from how he was occasionally depicted in the UK comics) recently turned him into a somewhat underhanded bureaucrat absolutely dedicated to his job and ensuring Autobot victory, doing almost anything to ensure the morale of the Autobot military and the political high ground of their cause (see: All Hail Megatron Coda #15 and Last Stand of the Wreckers). And unlike some Autobots, he did this because it's his job, not because he's interested in praise and glory. That's an interesting character. Cartoon Prowl was a generic Autobot with no distinct personality, whose job (which he rarely seemed to actually perform) was replaced by Red Alert due to To Sell Toys. Perhaps his most memorable contribution to the series was being shot by Scavenger and burning horribly on the inside.
