In the episode "Out of His Head," Megatron used a shard of Dark Energon to revive his damaged body. But during the "Darkness Rising" arc, when Megatron inserted Dark Energon into his spark chamber, the resulting infusion is his Decepticon symbol, his circuits/veins and eyes all glowed purple. So why didn't his eyes and symbol glow purple after he put another Dark Energon shard into his spark chamber again?
Probably because they wanted to go back to the normal "Decepticons have red eyes/Autobots have Blue eyes" status quo. The Dark Energon purple bit Megatron had was probably to show the fact he'd gained some kind of power, but since then he hasn't demonstrated any kind of Dark Energon abilities like raising the dead.
His eyes only glow purple when he's controlling the Zombies. All other times he's normal. Even after he put it in his spark chamber in Darkness Rising his eyes went back to red when he wasn't "using" it. He seems to have lost the powers anyway, as it seems the DE he has is what revived him, and it's now been used to restore his spark. Ditto Starscream.
That's because he has no Dark Energon powers anymore. He used the recovered D.E. shard to restore his body to standard working order, not to give himself D.E. powers. He would have to find a new different D.E. Shard (what's left of Starscream's perhaps?) and fuse with that to gain any type of powers back, though SS broke his shard in half, so it might not be very powerful anymore.
Until proven otherwise, I'll assume all of the shard's energy was spent on just restoring his body, leaving the crystal itself to fade into nothing. Just think of it as the evil equivalent of the AllSpark shards from Animated.
Nah, he was never dead. He just used up the Shard to fix his body and to wake up, basically. I like to think that the Shard got used up repairing the gaping hole in his chest, and no longer exists as Dark Energon.
Even in Darkness Rising his eyes continuously switched between red and purple. Maybe they only glow purple when there are Dark Energon enfused Zombies around for him to control?
They glow purple when he's all SYMBIOSIS!!!11!1!! with his zombies, but otherwise he keeps to the eye color status quo.
I've thought some of what you guys said. The thing is that when Megatron first put Dark energon into himself, the infusion caused him to glow. So shouldn't he glowed again, at least for a moment after his restoration. But that didn't happen, so I feel there's a little inconsistency. I guess my question should have included how Dark energon affects living transformers
i thought screamy took the drk energon from his spark chamber in ep 6 but i dont know if he took his shard back
Warning, the information below can be spoilerish to those who haven't seen episode 23 of season 1, "One Shall Fall" From the lastest epsiode, which haven't aired in US yet. I think we can be sure that dark energon doesn't make Megatron's eyes glow purple when he's controlling undead transformers raised by dark energon. I think maybe it's all dependent on Unicorn's will which possibly exists within all dark energon. Because when Megatron's eyes and circuits/veins glowed purple in episode "One Shall Fall," it was like beyond his control as it wasn't his own doing. It was like someone who wants to show him something through dark energon. Since dark energon is blood of Unicorn, one can assume he's the one, who's giving Megatron visions. Or it's someone else that also has dark energon in him. Another words, the glow is based on when Megatron's action serves Unicorn's purpose. At least that seems to be the case.
Dark Energon is like drugs. You get high the first time but the effect is more bogus after a few more trys. Dont do drugs kiddies.
His eyes glow when Dark Energon flows through his mind-whether it be controlling zombies or hearing the thoughts of Unicron, its when the Dark Energon affects his mind. And I second that. Dont do drugs
Tell that to Airachnid (purple eyes) and Breakdown (yellow eyes). Though since in Animated eye color besides red and blue usually indicated faction-switching, neutrality, or simply the bot's own interference in their optic color, I wonder if that means anything. Airachind has purple eyes like Animated Swindle, who was not neccesarily a Decepticon even though he worked with them more often; and she's not likely planning to stick with Megatron for good, so no reason for her to change her eyes back to normal Decepticon red if they ever were red. Breakdown, well the Animated Constructicons started out neutral with yellow eyes, but Breakdown has been anything but neutral. ANYWAY, sorry for getting off topic... It's just because Megatron has been out of contact with Dark Energon for a while now. The last time his optics turned purple was in Darkness Rising Part 5, and he hasn't been exposed to large amounts of Dark Energon as he had then since then. He's just not been around Dark Energon enough to trigger the optic color change. The same goes for Starscream I believe.
I did mentioned about his eyes glowing purple again in "One shall fall" While I agree that Dark Energon may have drug-like effects to transformers. I think Megatron's behavior is hardly proof. Since his mind and personality was already very much twisted and full of ego before Dark Energon entered his spark chamber. Dark Energon pretty much has a mind of their own(Uricon's mind) It would seem when that mind is active, those who carries Dark Energon, and currently Megatron will glowed purple
