It's crazy that you think the product is subpar and somehow that makes it subpar. Opinions are great until they are delivered as fact. Which is crazy since the only facts that need mentioning are $1 billion in ticket sales and top ten grossing film of all time. Surely those are the factual results of a subpar product.

Yup. The movie's still got enough pace left in it that knocking off Pirates 3 and Toy Story 3 from their perches and sitting comfortably in the top 5 is not out of the question.

It's definitely going to beat out Pirates 4, having hit the $1B mark almost 10 days faster than that movie did, so the number 7 slot is a lock.

Because you equate box office with quality. That's kind of like saying McDonalds must be great hamburgers because they have sold so many. Lots of factors go into the box office that don't have anything to do with quality.

What's next we get rid of the Academy voters and just hand the Oscar to whatever film has the biggest box office that year?

What's being said is that your definition of "sub-par" isn't everybody's definition of sub-par.

There's a couple hundred million votes there saying that this is the movie they want to see. Again and again, in many of those cases. Therefore, not sub-par.

Bingo. But its easier to take the contrived 'box office does not equal quality' argument. Especially when its all you have left to hang your hat on.

And let me just let out a good ol' fashion belly laugh at the Academy comment. As if those irrelevant, no good decision making relics have the first clue about what the audience actually wants to see.

Yes because you aren't hanging your hat on box office and the film is great because I say the film is great :D

Want to claim Transformers is bigger than Star Wars next since without figuring in ticket inflation Dark of the Moon is higher up the box office list.

Given that the quality of Star Wars is, in itself, vastly overblown...

Unlike you, I don't 'claim' that DotM is anything other than a $1 Billion movie and in the top 10 crossing films of all time. End. Of. Story.

    Hear, hear.

I'm here to celebrate a franchise that I'm a fan of doing so well at the box office.

    Good movie, bad movie, whatever.

It's an audience-pleasing movie with over $1B in proof.

It may not be the most refined movie but it certainly entertained people and passing the $1 billion dollar mark shows that it entertained a lot of people.
