new DOTM article claims its racist

    Well ok, you know, even in the G1 Cartoons, human military forces had a presence. Maybe not much of one...but this isn't a G1 cartoon. It really doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure Bay decided to inject as much realism as possible into the movies. And maybe even mix it with fiction to entertain more than bore. However, do you honestly think.....that in today's society, our own military, or any other country's military would NOT be involved if some shit like this went down? Of course they would! And we'd more than likely be fighting RIGHT ALONG side the Autobots. Even in a more fictional sense, humans would have a similar reaction to seeing such a phenomena. But if you didn't like that aspect of it, then you didn't like it. Just like how I don't like how the robots looked in the Bay movies. But I still like the movies overall for what it is. Like the saying, "Ya can't please everyone."

    Mostly, I still don't see why people can't just take a movie for what it is.....a piece of entertainment. Why people have to purposely go out of their way to find every little knick knack to complain about and then come up with some of the most mundane arguments to make a movie into something it is not nor meant to be...is beyond me. I mean seriously? Racist? Too military like? Sexist even? WTF. Whateverz. If that gives people purpose and meaning in life.....then they can have it.

    I've rebutted this one too many times to type it all out again. So many times over the years. I just can't even argue about it anymore. Ignore me and talk about the person that wrote the article.

    nice job bay, show how great the military is, by showing how they almost failed, and didn't even stand a CHANCE until the autobots came back...

    What makes me laugh is "These movies are a piece of pro-war campaign!".

    Oh yes, that's why Optimus spent half of his screen-time in TF2007 complaining how the war crippled Cybertron.

    What the hell!? This guy clearly didn't watch the movie properly and instead focused his big nose on the so-called "racist allusions", "stereotypes" and so on, clearly he is the racist one as he noticed all this stuff and actually linked it to stereotypes, someone ought to kick this troll's ass!

    I wrote a paper for my film class that claimed the Gene Wilder Willy Wonka was an allegorical pro-slavery movie. I don't believe that, it started as a goof between me and some friends and I decided to see if I could support the idea. That paper got an A+.

    It's really not difficult to read something into a movie, book or piece of art, and if you give selective evidence and leave out anything that doesn't support your thesis, it can be believable.

    This thread is taking a somewhat nasty turn IMHO.

    We can all agree on one thing: the writer of that article is more stupid than wet cardboard.

    But to sit and argue over it is just as stupid.

    As for saying people like to hate on Bays TF movies..I see just as many people hating G1. So that is to generalize.

    I suppose you have a point. Given the nature of the site, which I just discovered thanks to this guy's post...

    ... arguing would probably be futile.

    Do I count? I hate the Sunbow G1 cartoon, but love the toys, the Marvel comics, and some of the Japanese G1 cartoons.

    I didn't think anyone could outdo the turbo-nerd fans when it comes to desperately making something out of nothing, but this guy has trumped them all. That was quite easily the most ridiculous article I have ever read... about anything. Wow.

    It's alright for what it is(and the comics still entertain) but the actual cartoon can't match the likes of Beast Wars and Animated.
