Rodimus gets some red Daisy Dukes.

Has anyone tried to paint the lower legs black? That's my biggest paint gripe.

I want this figure so bad it haunts me...
Yet the closer I look at the reviews, the more I'm leaning toward Takara's re-release.. I know $200 is insane, but the differences between versions are starting to stand out..

Got my US version yesterday, and I'm VERY happy with it. No flaws in the paint...everything is nice and tight...nothing loose or floppy on this guy. He stands very well, and I don't worry about him being tippy like MP Megs, or the seekers.
An amazing representation of Hot Rod in MP scale for less than $100...even my wife likes him...maybe I'm bias because of the fact that I was 11 years old in 1987, and back then I wanted to BE Hot Rod...
I dunno....I feel bad for my fellow collectors that had bad QC on thiers, or problems with substandard shipping, but the figure standing in front of me has none of those problems, and is absolutely outstanding!
    Thanks Hasbro!

about those new elbow designs (which do suck, yes) but could a little super glue from the cover to the joint not work?? I'm just wondering if that would fix them a little.

I have both the Takara and Hasbro versions of this mold. There are some QC issues, present in both molds, but you'll never hear me complain about them. I'm happy to have this new MP mold. I will be displaying the Hasbro version as Hot Rod and the Takara version as Rodimus Prime. I might end up painting Hasbro's legs black if I build up enough courage to do so.

What I don't get about the Hasbro release is the stickers. Where am I supposed to stick them and what's up with the Decepticon sticker?

The set of stickers is for the arms like the toy had, but it will look awful in car mode as they dont hide at all and look like crap. As far as the 2 symbols? I have no idea what they are for (places one on his cat).

Come on you guys, I'm still waiting to see some pic of US Rodimus with the MP9 Trailer before I'm convinced to buy one.

If I do get one, the next tough part is to decide which version should I display as Hot Rod or Rodimus. I'm thinking MP9 as Hot Rod as it looks cleaner and magenta does fit him well. But then again the leg sticker on Hasbro doesn't go well as Rodimus, hm....

FUCK! Great day/ shitty day. So my SDCC Lion-O and MP Roddy came today, everything is looking good until I start tinkering with Offshot. He has 2 left legs! OFFSHOT has 2 LEFT LEGS!!!! Argh. Ok, so what do you guys think I should do? Try to send him back to tru.com or take him into to Toys R Us to exchange it. This has never really happened to me before (thru all my ML, DCUC, MOTUC collecting). Any help or advice would be appreciated. 2 left legs! :cry

I love it. Absolutely love it.

All of the problems I had with the Takara version are fixed with the Hasbro release. Vehicle mode is wear the biggest improvements are at. I just love how I can roll it on all four wheels now. As many of you have stated, my only complaint is the elbow joint; it just seems way too fragile.

Yeah mine arrived like this too. I made a post with pics:

    http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-toy-discussion/438836-tru-mp-rodimus-qc-issues.html

I plan on switching him out in the store as I think that route will be easier. The hard part will be finding one right now.

it could always roll on all 4 wheels...

I plan to pick this version up too once I find it, but I must ask, what is this elbow joint problem people are talking about? Did they change the elbow mold since the Takara release?

not sure if anyone commented on a solution for the loose backpack yet, but there's a simple step to get it snugly in place. while holding the grey clip in place behind the head, reach for the grey backpack hinge behind the waist and pull down, shifting the entire backpack down a bit. it'll force the clip to pull down against the body, locking it into place. one less complaint about this toy for you all =)

The only QC issue i have with my US Roddy is the hood alignment in car mode. Otherwise It's pretty good. Tight joints, hold all guns including Off Shoot, rolls good. But even my takara version did that. Truthfully speaking, sure I'm pissed I had to do a lot of "self fixes" on the Takara version, but after it was all said and done it turned problem free. I still like the OG Takara version better, I just wish I was better aware of what remedies I had to do up front. If the legs were black, and the hood lined up better the Hasbro version might have won heavier favor. Either way I love them both.

EDIT:I know this is similar to the first pic I posted, but if you mess around with the ankle positioning, you can make the height difference look more dramatic. Boy to Man for real.

I also need to really set up my lights and take better pics, LOL

Opened mine yesterday and transformed it once. Wife said Alt Rodimus looks better Than MP in both modes, which I kinda agree, but I still had to get an MP Rod.

They're adjustable. Mine have never looked like that (stuck out) with almost 90 degree bends. You can have it come out to protect the corners of the elbow/joint/upper arm ends getting rounded or bent, totally optional.
