I personally don't want to see any of the bots atm get the matrix, I do agree though that Arcee would be the closest candidate for such a thing but she's too hellbent on revenge.

As for the others, Bulkhead's strong but he's rather dense at times when it comes to combat, plus he's a bit headstrong often being the first to recommend sending cons to the scrapheap as opposed to optimus' ability to give everyone a chance. Ratchet is just a medic and not much of a field commander and he's batshit and Bumblebee is too young and inexperienced, you guys saw him when he found arcee beating the snot out of screamer, he just stood there as if he just saw mummy and daddy fighting.

This is actually one of the reasons I'd like to see characters like rodimus or magnus (or someone new I don't really mind) to take up the spot of possible successor.

Gotta disagree with you there though. One of the reasons I've always hated Hot Rod/Rodimus, was that he was some jackass who came out of nowhere to grab the leadership role.

What I like about the current cast is that they're all flawed, and would have to grow into a position of leadership, rather than simply having it handed down to them. Now I realize this is possible with Hot Rod as well, but again, I'd still rather a new Prime rise from the ranks of the cast we grew to know from the very beginning.

 

Springer? He'd be a candidate....other than the obvious iron magnus/hot rod paths...

Either way there need to be more bots especially if screamer can assemble a viable faction of his own.

A new prime would need to be a developed character...so they really need to get some new faces on board if it isn't a member of the current cast.

 

In what episode of TF rime has it been shown that he has a matrix? This guy is based off of Bayverse Prime.

 

Where did it ever say that TF Prime is based off of Bayverse. Even if it was Bayverse, Prime had the matrix. Also why is everyone so quick to say that Prime will die?

 

Again. Show me an episode of TF Prime where it shows he has a matrix in the 1st place. Up to this point we don't know if he even has one. Which renders the original question moot since we don't know if he even "has" a matrix.

I agree, that for now, Arcee's judgement is too easily clouded. And out of the current team there are probably none fit for the duty of Prime.


I have to wonder though, if Prime even has the ability to assign who will be the next Prime. In WFC lore it was the Cybertronian council that did it. Imagine what would happen if Optimus Prime decides to assign his successor on his own.

The earthbound autobots may follow his wishes, but how about the autobots that are possibly scattered across the galaxy?

One, they did not see Optimus Prime choose the successor.

Two, it was not done with the approval of the Cybertronian council.

Three, the autobots around the galaxy may no longer acknowledge Optimus' leadership granted how long they've been separated.

I think it could end up with an nternal war, autobot against autobot.

And does the matrix of leadership automatically assure the loyalty of the autobots? Sure it was granted by the heart of Cybertron( and carries part of Cybertron's spark), but Sentinel Prime didn't use the matrix to lead. The other autobots might just see the matrix as just anothe trinket and brush it off.

I'm of the opinion that if Optimus Prime every chooses a successor he might have to do it when he has reformed the autobots. Or at least when he has already made a skeleton government. It could at least add some legitimacy to the claim of Prime. But for that, he needs more than just 4 other autobots under him. He needs hundreds upon hundreds of loyal autobots.


I think it would be great story material.

 

Hence is why they should kill him off in Later Seasons.

They need to develop him as more than just a stoic leader but explain why he truly fights the fold of leader and how he can improve himself even more.

This is where I would keep refering to WFC/Exodus, but if I did that people would just keep complaining.

 

The more I read peoples' enthusiasm for this, the more I wonder. I have to say that it really seems completely nuts.

Hasbro's memory does go as far back as 86. They remember killing their own cash cow. I can just imagine now, how that would go, doing it all over again, the same thing happening all over again.

Also, I've seen Peter Cullen in person talk about how bitterly disappointed he was in the decision to kill Optimus. I wouldn't be the slightest bit surprised if he has it in his contract that Optimus will not be killed. The man cares that much, but what's more he knows how bad a mistake it was to kill Optimus. It is a point of leverage for him.

The only conclusion I can draw is that the new generations of fans have lost touch with the essence of the intellectual property due to a lack of exposure to G1, or more likely, exposure to it at a later, more cynical age. The small sliver of us fans who have been there for the long run and support all the G1 inspired versions of Optimus are perfectly aware of the folley of trying to replace him.

 

As much as I would like to see Arcee as leader, I love prime too much. Hes an icon.

TRANSFORMERS: PRIME. Seriously though, no. We don't need this, and Arcee has a lot of growing up to do before she can become a leader (as much as I love the character). She's too preoccupied with vengeance to be a viable Prime.

She is, however, SIC, and I can see, after having been frustrated over Prime's peaceful attitude one to many times (followed by a mission to fail due to said attitude), her usurping him and taking command.

Kinda like how Beast Machines Cheetor took over from Primal for a bit. I can seriously see this happening.

 

I would say absolutely NO killing off Optimus and passing anything to another bot, they are not ready for leadership and I'm sure there's many more stories with Optimus Prime and Megs to animate before the TFP team even thinks of giving a maxtrix (if that topic comes up anytime son) to anybot else. Besides we need to see some awesome fight scenes that would continue the one GC'd in the intro.  
Optimus and Megs must have some close up, servo to cannon fist fights!!!

 

Yeah, It's not like there's been any other Autobot leader who have needed to grow up a bit.... ohwaitasec! XD
