No one even brought up the issue of who's better and all that until you posted the abovementioned rant. Read the last few pages again. It is about some arrangement issues with a mass order, they had it sorted out and all is well. There were no name callings or anything of that sort. In fact, there were suggestions and constructive criticisms propounded to get their points across and in the end, some just agree to disagree and move on. Where's the disgrace and childishness that you so harping on, if I may indubitably ask?

You are rightfully entitled to your own opinion and preferences, but don't ever put down others to justify your statements.

PS: I am a traveling consultant and I frequent the countries you mentioned, heck, maybe even more. They are not as perfect as you paint a picture of them, whether online or offline.

No one is perfect. even the 'Ang mohs'.

My take of this saga:

1) There is no friendship exists, only self-interest (Oh yeah the so called cry babies also just taking care of their self-interest).

2) Younger people begin to speak up, against the previous untouchable authorities.... Whether they are right or wrong/even the authorities are right or wrong..... The fact is they speak up and challenge you if they feel something is not right..... Just like the recent GE or even Malaysia Bersih campaign.

3) The troll that contributes nothing here, shout at others and said that these people are trolling. Oh yeah, threaten as well..

4) It is not a matter of money like $7-$10 extra, it is a matter of principle..... A person didn't want to pay the extra, doesn't make him not a MAN.... He is just holding his principle of what he agrees at the beginning.
Need to calculate the cost properly in the future.

5) The handling of whole issue can be better. I believe if all these do it behind the scene and explain face to face, i guess 99% will accept and get on with life.... Nobody like to lose, find a common ground and compromise it....

 

I admit it is something that I overlooked as this was the first time buying from bbts and arranging a mass order. I am not making an excuses and take responsibility for this but do understand I did not make anything out of this mo and in fact have to make a cough out some money to cover for this order.

I have tried to called all involved parties to explain to them as well as sending sms when they are not contactable. Please let me know if this sunday would it be a good day to meet. I would not be able to make it next Sunday as I am preparing for my exams.

I don't think some of the lads' self-entitlement can/should be counted as misplaced - true that GST is unavoidable but if the price was agreed upon before a sudden tax levy was placed onto the order, shouldn't this have been discussed beforehand at least instead of just transferring it back, outright, to the rest of the group?

The issue of friendships might probably come to the fore here - that we should help friends in need since this is all about friends getting together to share the cost. But if we are all friends, and I'm sure we all are, should a profit be made then?

I'm all for MO organizers making a small profit - you rightly highlighted that the provision of service, convenience and ultimately initiative warrants gratitude no matter in what form. My girlfriend organizes sprees for ladies too and she makes money off them - no one complains.

Complaints surface only when the price has been agreed upon but changed at the last minute regardless of situation or reasoning yet gets transferred onto the buyer. To avoid this, my girlfriend (and a lot of other spree/MO organizers) absorb whatever additional cost that may come in at the death, eating into their profits.

The question that should be asked is this : If a profit was being made out of this, then moral values come to the fore - maintain the profit margin (if this MO has any) by transferring the unpredicted cost or uphold the agreement/promise of "$140...most certainly less" and bear the sudden GST levy?

This entire saga might reek of Singaporeanism but I don't buy that argument.

Mach has done brilliant MOs in the past with no one questioning him nor were there anyone taking the piss out of him whenever something changes. Regular updates is done and certainly before items reach the sunny shores of Singapore.

And I thought friendship was all about helping and not asking for anything in return - guess the naive keyboard warrior-esque boy in me thought wrong

 

Notice how the trolls all started instantly behaving themselves as soon as I mentioned calling the mods? Not a peep from any of them, and they were running wild just last night. So you see, that's the only way to manage them, otherwise they think they can get away with everything here. Only because people let them, if you stand up to bullies, they always back down like cowards. I encourage everyone here to report them everytime they troll you, the mods don't know if you don't bring it to their attention. We can make this thread a nice place again. 

Hey Mart! Sorry, I've been overseas, just got back this week and have to help at a wedding next few days. I'll reply to you soon, I promise, just been so busy. I should have written to you instead of wasting my time scolding trolls here, so please accept my apologies. Typically I don't ever reply to them anymore, after my third time posting I saw they weren't interested in having an intelligent conversation but just wanted to bully and pile on. So I almost never reply to their little comments and insults, they aren't worth my time. I just let them have their say that makes them feel strong and they can pat each others backs and tell each other they are so big and clever for trying to bully a girl online. It's ok, I don't care what they say about me I'm proud of who and what I am, but sometimes things will just be so extreme (like how badly dawGTX is being treated here after being so generous with his time and efforts to all these people) that I have to speak up. I know the trolls won't listen, but there are a lot of other people here who do, many of who have thanked me privately for expressing my point of view. I'm sure you know what I mean since you pretty much quit posting in this thread too.

Rare TFs? Nah, TFs aren't rare these days, they just get re-issued eventually somewhere down the line. Check out G1 Devastator and all the clamouring for him couple of years back. And now TakaraTomy is doing an encore reissue of him later this year.
