Thanks for the explanations, NCStarscream & HighPrime! I still don't understand all of the hatred, though. Is this new Ultimate Prime mold bad? Do all of these people that are bashing it already have one and don't like how it transforms, or something?!?

i like the packaging of prime prime but not the figure itself. if they had voyager prime in matrix packaging i would definitely had got it. i think i'm going to wait for the voyager prime.

    Ebay:
I can't believe that Ultimate OP just sold out. didn't know interest was that high. In the next week or so eBay will be insane with this stuff.

I thought I was going to have to try trading my TCC Ramjet for a Skystriker Starscream. Whew. Now I'm wondering if I should get the retail SS to dogfight Starscream.

If Ultimate Prime was, a new deco or a new mold, I probably would've bought him, heck Ultimate NEMESIS Prime would've made a much better exclusive.

As for the toy itself, people don't like it basically because of:

    1) Price point
    2) Lack of poseability
    3) Fairy Wings
    4) The Voyager sized Prime in it.

I passed on Prime easily, I prefer my Mini-Mugs anyway! o3o

I think it's a silly looking robot Prime, but that's just my opinion. You lose a lot of articulation when you insert him into his trailer armor so I'm not a fan of that either.

I do like how it's an all new Prime mold separate from any Voyager/Leader class figure we've ever seen, but after watching the reviews on just the Prime figure itself, I feel that Hasbro kind of cheated on the transformation itself.

I do think the alt mode looks awesome but it's a shame that if I owned one, I'd probably keep it in that mode. That big cannon that mounts over his face looks pretty silly too and ends up being a TON of kibble on the bottom of the trailer (which I'm not a fan of).

On one hand, I like the alt mode of Hasbro's Ultimate Optimus because at least it's movie accurate. Jetwing Prime looks awesome in robot mode (which is accurate to the movie) but the alt mode with that wingpack reminds of that Animated Wingblade Optimus. As a cartoon, I think the jetpack-on-a-truck can look cool, but on a vehicle we've seen a real-life version of, it looks a little weird

Have you looked at pics or a review? The Prime figure itself is disappointing...the arms look terrible, it's supposed to be the "Ultimate" version yet they don't even paint the fuggin' rims and other details, and the trailer armor is a brick and looks like crap to boot. But nice butterfly wings and pretty antennas to go with them if you're into that sort of thing... All for the low price of $80.

Jetwing Prime looks decent and uses ROTF leader Prime as its base which is a great fig, but it has no real trailer...and the price of that thing is criminal either way. But the whole jetpack thing is overrated anyhow...unless you're dying to tangle up a Prime in some strings above your collection, who cares? It was a whole 5 minutes of the movie and really not that cool as they made Prime out to be a friggin' helpless dipshit most of that time.

I think "Ultimate" to Hasbro probably just meant "biggest" :lol

The price on Jetwing is so ridiculous. I would have ABSOLUTELY bought in on it if it had Buster Prime's paintjob on the leader Prime and a nice shiny silver paint job on the pack itself. The fact that it has neither and STILL costs ~$200 is beyond me.

Grimlockimus, ahro23 & kibble - thanks for the explanations. I really did not see any good close-up pics of it, so I had no idea what to expect. I hope that I have a different opinion of the robot mode when I get it, but either way, I think the alt mode is definitely the way to display it!

At least you're getting a first edition of a figure that actually looks good :lol

But yes, I agree that a good portion of the $20 asking is going to the pretty packaging

This is my thinking as well. Eventually I'll end up getting one of the Leader Class figures to display if possible.

Good thing there's no SDCC exclusives I want to get this year. My wallet can at least breathe a sigh of relief.

Agreed, hence why I bought 2, one to display, and one for the Matrix Bling
