I dunno what to say. http://gawker.com/5823853/terror-in-norway-gets-more-terrifying I guess we have insane people here too.
It's too easy to write off the perpetrator as 'insane'. LOL @ impotent jihadists taking credit for something they only wish they could achieve.
I am impressed with how every single NON-US news channel made this their headline news throughout the day from minute one (as it should be, terrorist attacks are NOT just excluded to the USA you know!!) but the US news channels hardly bothered making this a news item at all... seriously, how can you yanks misspell OSLO??? IT'S 4 BLOODY LETTERS!!! *facepalm* America, I am dissapoint.
They (not all, but sadly many) don't know much about their own country, can't be surprised when they don't know much outside of the center of their universe.
You're in my thoughts, Norway. Once it was learned that the doer had nothing to do with Islamic fundamentalism and was actually a right-wing extremist, it no longer fit the narrative of the "war" on terrorism. The media in the United States then went back to obsessing over Casey Anthony.
The details are still sketchy but as far as we know right now, the casualties are just short of a hundred. The Utøya shooter is as far as we know, a Norwegian, but that does in no way say that he hadn't been brainwashed by some (in this case) right-wing extremists.....
I watched this situation escalate throughout yesterday and today I'm really lost for words. 84 boys and girls, young men and women aged between 13 and 25 have so far been found slaughtered on the island Utøya. I feel sick to my gut.
That is awful. Really makes me sick to my stomach hearing about these kinds of things. My thoughts and prayers go out to Norway, and the victims and families. May God bless you through these hard times.
Hideous stuff. Went to bed early last night when it was a bomb with a few injuries, woke up this morning and saw that 80+ people were dead. Hopefully this will start convincing the more naieve sections of the European electorate that the far right arn't standing up for anything other then thier own rediculous medieval ideology.
Nah this shooting/bombing is obviously the work of a single deranged individual, healthy white people don't act in this way. Contrary Muslims and other minorities have a genetic predisposition towards violence, irrationality, laziness and promiscuity.
Oh boy... talk of double standards. This tragedy is a powerful reminder that evil lives in all nations, creeds and cultures. What is unhappily apparent to me is that if the Norwegian government imposes tough security laws and more government control, then that may well be just what he was after, and he'll have won. I have faith in the people of Norway to come out of this stronger, however.
The leader of the conservative party was on tv before, and she talked about how this mustn't be allowed to infringe on the openess of norwegian society, because openess is the cornerstone of our democracy. They also keep playing tape of the AUF leader (the youth organization that had it's summercamp at Utøya) saying they won't be threatened to silence.
Muslims aren't a genetically defined group, nor, at approximately 1.57 billion worldwide*, are they a minority in any meaniful sense. It's disappointing you would bring race or religion into this tragedy at all--behavior like this is inherently deranged regardless of the offender's demographics. *http://www.britannica.com/EBchecked/topic/295507/Islam
