I think it's great that these comics are coming back... But really, I really had a small glimmer of hope that they would at least consider continuing Animated. :(  Alas, poor Animated. I knew him, fellow Animated fans. I can't say that one BotCon where the audience was cheering for more Animated over more G1 comics will get a company like IDW to drop everything for Animated.

Sorry. I just... Well, this isn't the best news I've ever heard at a convention. But that's just me. I'm happy for those who really do want more G1 Furnan comics.

Don't worry young buck, us oldtimer G1'rs have had a long wait for this. You keep up the good fight and someday they might do an Animated retrospective. I bet your wait isn't even as long as ours was.

I imagine there's limited time to get Furman on board while he's interested.

I still remain unconvinced that the Marvel run needed continuing unless it was from the G2 arc, which is clearly not what they're doing.

I'm more than a little happy now with the fact that four of our comic guests at Auto Assembly next month are:-

    Simon Furman
    Andrew Wildman
    James Roberts
    Nick Roche

I think I can guess what sort of questions will be thrown their way now...!

Yay, a continuation to a series that ended 20 years ago is getting made over a show that got cut down in it's prime. sarcasm

In all seriousness, I'm happy for you G1 fans that have wanted this, it's great that you guys have had your faith rewarded. But, it sucks that Animated Season 4 ain't happening yet. Also, what's Robots in Disguise susposed to be about?

IDW's plans for next year make me very happy. I've been really disapointed with the ongoing this year, but the create teams on the two new titles (MTMTE and RID) look great and Simon and Andy continuing the original Marvel run from #81 is icing on the cake! Here's hoping it goes beyond issue #100!

I think the ongoing has been great from issue #13 onwards, and the latest epic "Chaos" is fantastic thus far. But I am also looking forward to all the goodies coming next year.

What a great time to be a TF comics fan!

If Wildman draws Blaster, I REALLY hope he uses his older character model with the shades... Blaster was SO awesome back before he died...

Speaking of which, I'd love a Marvel All-Star cast with Prime, Grimlock, Blaster, Bumblebee, Jazz, Fort Max, Ratchet, Nightbeat, Siren, Hot Rod, Kup, Landmine, and Cloudburst.

That would rock. I love Furman to death, but Bob Budiansky Blaster is where it's at.

It's cool that the fans were able to influence IDW to give the G1 continuation a shot. If it does well, maybe we can get more fan-initiated ideas out there!

I don't think anyone thought it was a "binding promise", but IDW complicated things by setting up the two potential comics as a competition. An Animated continuation wasn't even on anyone's radar, then IDW tossed the idea out as if it was something they were genuinely considering. And then the overwhelming positive response at Botcon got our hopes up that Animated would come out on top. So it was kinda like this:

IDW: Would you rather have option #1, or option #2?
    Fandom: OPTION #2!!!!
IDW: Okay, here's option #1 then! Enjoy!

You can't really blame people for being a little confused and disappointed.
