bellpeppers is so right saying that it's the G1 fans that get the most hatred spewed at them. I almost feel like I need to stay in the closet as a G1 fan as it's such a dirty thing apparently.

Never liked the other shows after G1 but that's just me. However because I'm a G1 fan this doesn't mean I automatically rage against everything not G1. Heck I even go nuts about the movie designs(yes really nuts as in I freaking love them). I really disliked Beast Wars yet watched it with my nephews when they grew up and explained who that gray Megatron was etc. and still fondly remember some episodes that were pretty good even though I disliked the continuity. My nephews think G1 is horrible which is fine because let's be honest you are mostly a fan not because the series was the greatest thing you've ever seen in your life but mostly for nostalgia reasons right? Yet they understand that it was the womb from which all other series sprang forth so whilst not liking it they do respect it and do not hate the fans. Like why I do not hate moviefans unless they are showing me complete disrespect and boy do you get that a lot!

Whenever I point out what I personally don't like or what I find to be really wrong with the movies I get called a geewunner, whiner and presto; discussion over.

I know people like the movieverse and that's fine really but I am allowed my opinion and others who agree, and disagree, with me as well. Yet most threads are completely one-sided and is either filled with movie fans who would love anything as long as it's moving and the haters who hate everything that moves on screen. I hardly see any rational discussions between the two parties and it's telling to see that after each movie has come out suddenly people register on boards and pretty much troll around.

I think I'm pretty clear about NOT wanting it to be G1 nor that G1 is the holy grail(it had its weak, bad points and horrible obviously as it was just an 80's cartoon geared towards selling toys) but just wanting it to be a good movie rather than the average action we're getting now. What's so wrong with that? Maybe if I changed mu profile into movie-verse fan I'm allowed to finally voice my gripes with the movies...
But I love G1 so therefore I should just STFU?

I think you got it the other way around, its the hardcore G1 guys that hate too much on the Bay universe

Why would Bayverse fans hate on a Michael Bay transformers movie?

It is rather odd that some people act as though there is no middle ground at all.

You can mention something wrong with the film that really has nothing to do with Transformers like you think a shot was too close or the framing of the shot wasn't that good and people would accuse you of being a G1 fan stuck in the past.

Or you can be disappointed in how the story wandered off in several directions instead of being a focused disciplined story and you get accused of being a "hater".

There are things the films did really well and things the films did really poorly, but for some odd reason people get the idea that you have to be all love or all hate when the majority of fans likely saw the films as a mix of the good and the bad.

Yeah you either hate it or love it apparently...that's why my post was worded that way. I know I made a post the time RotF was out and everyone completely ignored the positive comments I made and attacked me, silly whiny geewunner, for hating it. Wut?!

Some people need to learn the difference between a G1 fan and a Gewunner.

I don't hate Bayformers movies; I certainly criticize the hell out of them, for all of their faults. But I have been known to say some pretty harsh things about them.
Mostly because I'm responding to ridiculous statements that Bayformers fans say.
A lot of Bayformers fans treat the movies like it's their religion, and they get really bitchy to anyone who doesn't share their faith.

i like everything and i have my negatives with all things tformers as well.

i grew up with g1 but today i dont really care about it, sure it paved the way but not everything has to go back to it.

its fine to not like something and i value most ppls opinions on here, but its those that use the words hate and swearing up and down to make a point just bothers me that someone can be sooo upset about something like that.

No, g1snobs (and I mean the snobs not g1fans in general, one right here) seem to bitch the most. At least Bay isnt a dueshbag like Lucas, imagine if Bay was responsible for g1 as well as the modern continuity. lol, then I'd really get why some people feel like he raped their childhood. Peter Cullen voices Prime, that's what matters to me and he gets the last say on character developement, take it up with The Man if you don't like it.

Do bayfans hate too much? Yes...very much so.

I know alot of g1 fans that have moved on to other sites/given up on the fandom because of it.

I was a target of ALOT of hate from movieverse fans too before I changed my signature, I still am - but nowhere near as much...I guess it's because it's no longer any point in trying to out me as a g1 fan.

Before the sig change Bayfans immediatly labeled me a whiny g1 fan without listening to what I said - if I mentioned g1 in a long, well thought out post then absolutely nothing of what I wrote in my post except those 2 letters registered and I'd get the automatic reponse of "OMG THE MOVIES ARE NOT G1 - YOU HATE CHANGE" comments. I still get those comments as well as comments about why I am on the forum if I don't like the movies, how I'm butthurt, etc, etc - but at least more of the bayformers fans listen to me now.

It's been my experience that G1 fans like Ash, Bellpeppers, and if I may be so bold - me are more articulate than your run of the mill movieverse fan, we put alot of thought and effort into our posts, back it up with facts, and try to have a discussion going (which would of course be impossible to do if there weren't bayformers fans out there who were willing to do the same) but it's in these discussions that I see alot of hate posts directed towards g1 fans as well as the "this" spam from movieverse fans. - Not saying that G1 fans don't do it too, but for the most part it's bayformers fans who do...and let's face it - it adds nothing to the discussion.

Now, I know that some of you will think that g1 fans hate too, and I would be naive to say that they never did - but the diference between a majority of the hate from the two sides is that the people who prefer g1 over the movies post complaints related to the movies where as the movie fans post complaints related to the g1 fans.

It does seem like all or nothing for some people so they can make grand statements. Such as the claim that all movie critics hate summer movies, they hate action movies, and they all really hate Micheal Bay movies, and yet 36% of the critics on Rotten Tomatoes liked Dark of the Moon. I know my math is not the best it could be but 36% liked doesn't add up to all critics hated the movie.

If I may add an addendum:
Not only do you need to hit up the prequel comics and novelization... but the movie writers as well.

I was reminded of this when someone brought up new TF life being a Decepticon by default, and someone said:
"When asked about it, ORCI SAID..."

    Now, lets be fair.
    Speaking outside the TRANSFORMERS fandom:

People see Michael Bay's name as directing and they automatically start dumping crap on it.

Personally, I think they are unfair, and some of the things thy come up with is just stupid; I swear they single out TF's because they want Shakespear with robots.

Look, action eye-candy movies have their place and some of these people are just stuck on themselves. Personally, one of my favorite films is Armageddon. The Island is what made me originally think that Bay was well suited for TRANSFORMERS.

That said, I can't help feeling that some of their comments might be warrented in these last 2 installments. We all know that ROTF suffered from many things, and every 1 of those problem was blamed on the writer's strike.

Problem is: DOTM suffers, IMO, from many of the same problems as ROTF- and there's no writer's strike to blame this time around. There was stupidity in the script, bad shot flow, poor all-over-the-map editing, and a couple sequences were just executed poorly.

Bay, I love ya... but it's time to move on.
