It sounds like Jablonsky did something very, very, very similar to Mind Heist for his track, which disappoints me.

Here is a better example comparison:

    YouTube - ‪Inception and Transformers 3 Music Comparison‬‏

And is there some reason why people specifically in these movie forums are always so incredibly INFURIATED by the slightest criticism against the movies, even when it's justified?

I'm pretty sure I remember a news post where it was said micheal bay was editing DotM using the inception soundtrack as a placeholder while an original score was being planned. Bay may have said " I want something like this", and this is what he got. Theres no doubt they're similar, but the guy is being a bit if a dick about it,

I don't really care all that much for either, so, I don't give a damn. Let them duke it out if they want, but this guy said it best:

when you can play both tracks at the same time and not realise there are two separate tracks playing then there certainly is some issue

It's about as much of a rip of as how Star Wars was written to classical music and then the composer was asked to produce a similar sounding, original work for the scenes.

So...not a rip off. It's just using the same string instruments in the key and time. Pretty sure there's lots of music that would sound similar.

People complain a lot around here [and about every single damn thing in the movie], you eventually gets severely annoyed by that [or not, whatever], people saying every single grain of salt in the movie is wrong and you're dumb for not seeing it, it's hard liking the Baymovies sometimes.

I'm okay with justified criticism, in this case is justified to say they're similar.

If the original post had ended on the first paragraph after the video, I'de be cool, but it didn't, and the sheer arrogance, pride and stupidity of Hemsey annoyed me. A lot.

I might be able to see the point, were it not for the fact you could also make the argument the beginning of Mind Heist doesn't sound dissimilar to Jablonsky's Transformers score.

And I'll also agree, regardless of the similarities, the attitude Hemsey takes in his response makes it a little harder to sympathize with him.

See it like this. More of an evolution, an improvment on a pre exsisting work.
To homage or draw inspiration is not the same as an outright copy.

Let use Optimus as an example.
Each new Optimus is different in one or more ways to the oringinal G1 character. HOWEVER they also reatain a likeness to the original to.

That is what I hearing here. A homage but NOT a blatant copy.

    I like Mind Heist more.

I am sure that Zack Hemsey just wants some acknowledgement from Steve Jablonsky that It's Our Fight was inspired by his work. The similarities are plain to see to anyone who isn't wearing fanboy blinders.

I honestly think it's just a trick of the human brain.
They sound similar, but when you compare them in this video,
you can easily tell the difference.

I'm sorry but that is just a blatant, blatant, utterly shameless ripoff. If they wanted to use it so bad they should've licensed it, or better yet, hired the original composer.

Hemesey is 100% correct when he states that "the similarities are certainly extreme".

As much as I really like the score to DOTM I do see more than a few similarities between the two pieces. Problem is, if there is a lawsuit, IMO there may be enough similarities there to warrant a win on the part of the "original" Inception piece. The other thing is that there is a good bit of duration of the "copied" parts rather than just a quick second or two here and there.

Heres the thing though. Never does the score interfere with Hemsey's thing's profit (Or none there of).

Not to mention its not a copy written piece from the Inception score. I doubt he can just sue because Jablonsky made 30 seconds of music that sounds slightly similar to his trailer music.

You need to prove without a doubt that the accused infringement directly interferes with any profit Hemsey makes. And he only mixed a trailer mix. it's not like its being sold on the public market. He won't be getting anything in court.

The Elvis estate gets royalties when JXL did their remix. Dolly Parton got 6 million dollars when Whitney Houston covered her song. The fact that they might have never made another penny out of those songs has nothing to do with whether they deserve royalties.

And those versions were probably more original than what we have here.

Wow, Hemsey is such a dick.

First of all, i like "Its our fight" more.

Second of all, who does he think he is? Does he think only because he made that stupid Inception Piece hes the god of music?

Third of all, i think this was, atleast to some degree, a directors choice. I love Michael Bay, but, seeing how i make movies myself, sometimes you just have a music you know in your head for a very specific scene. And its hard to write that music out. So you search for something similar.

Fourth of all: They are extremly similar. But i wouldnt call it a ripoff.
