We are talkign about the blue version. And the knee thing came about from a review that was done too quickly and too eager to bash this figure.

The knees always bent but he was using the wrong joint to do it.

 

hey sol, is there still an issue with the right arm at the shoulder? the one i had everytime i transformed it, it would always pop off and a pain to get back in with alt mode.

also in your pics, i can already see those little peg tabs stressing

Henkei Ravage and both the autoscouts cassettes don't fit in his chest, IGear autscout make his way in but it's very very hard to close the chest, the other one not even close!
G1 Ravage, Rumble, Ratbat, Laserbeak, Overkill, Slugfest, Sqwaktalk and Beastbox (plus respective recolors) fit very nicely

 

This guy will fit in very nicely with my Classics display. Thanks for the great pics Chaos.

 

To anyone who has him- do his speakers use the same 3 mm clip that Hasbro uses?

 

Yep, attached the speakers on Darkmount/Straxus and world fine, also tried Straxus weapons on him (shoulder and leg clip points) and they clip on very well, same 3mm.

 

That's awesome. Now I'll have four clip on speakers!

He fit really well with Blaster, so we finally have modern version of Soudwave and Blaster that are the same size and aesthetic with a real-gear type of alt mode and with tape-compatibility

I did too! They are some of my favorite figures of all time. Fantastic look, fantastic articulation, totally unique alt-modes. Plus, IMHO, they have that great balance of interesting yet simple transformation.

 

Is G1 Soundwave compatible with Classics Ravage? I dunno, I don't have a single door version. The reissue one with the double-wide door has problems holding more than just Ravage. His tail adds an extra thickness beyond the normal tape width, which causes some problems.

 

It's probably because of how far off the tail is. I remember putting classics Ravage in my reissue Soundwave and the door popped off.

I'm hoping BTS's Ravage turns out well.

 

f sonicron he is like watchin kimbo slice fight in ufc sad and pathetic. me as a sound wave fan find this toy as purposeless as cybertron soundwave and countdown i hella stayed away from this toy like if it was a dotm release and previous movie merchandise almost got cybertron soundwave but thought why i have sound device soundwave which is so awe some y cause it does what soundwaves whole gimmick was and that was play music. that worked in the cartoon but not in real life look at the original packaging it states does not play tapes cool but not cool for the 80z and 70z but totally not cool for the current times does sonicron need a repaint no what he needs to do is really work and play a primus damned tape then u might sell more.

 

Here's what i don't like:

• I need something like an x-Acto to slide out the peg in his shoulder launcher (one with the red tip), on the had gun you get more clearance and it's easy
• It's hard to open his arm panels to store his fists
• Also hard to open his back panel to store the head in player mode
• Extremely hard to open the grey panel on the missile weapon thingy (you need to flip it around to reveal the detail)
• A bit loose joints in shoulders (in the arm part, not torso), but not that much
• Can't fit Ravage or the autoscout's, Sonicron has one tab on each side of the door panel that serves the function of holding the cassetticon in place and they limit the depth of a cassette, Henkei/Classics Ravage is just too fat and just because of the tail...
• As for the autoscouts, they fit in the door (one more then the other) but the iGear one does not have holes so you can't close the door (sonicron has 2 small nipples inside that fit the holes on regular g1 tapes lol), and on the other one (Gear of war), the holes don't match the said nipples.
• Crappy hinge extends too far out his butt.. installing the backpack helps but not that much, still distracting.
• The more G1 head has a weird face, visor is not only a tad small but also installed too deep in the head, but that's minor, the other one is total crap
• Head can only rotate side to side
• The way the clear plastic is glued on the inside of the chest door might scratch your cassettes, might just be mine, but this is fixable
• Red translucent tip on shoulder cannon.. why????
• I'm very worried about the shin panels, they have to open to slide out the feet but they may pop out when you try that, and one of them does not go all the way, in mine of course, you might not have this problem

What I like:

• It's Soundwave and it can hold tapes /data storage devices/whatever you want to call it
• In scale with Classics and DL Blaster (Finally!!!)
• To install the head you just have to pop it out since it's on a ball joint
• Nice light piping on visor
• 3mm clip on speakers that are on 3mm pegs on legs plus there's another clip point on his left shoulder
• Love the fact that he has a spring loaded red button to open the cassette deck in robot mode, when in player mode, you can push the stop button and it also opens the deck since it lays on top of the red button
• Hands can rotate
• Lots of joints for easy posing
• Missile pod looks awesome and can be attached in many places
• Legs are a bit fatter then when locked in Player mode cause the side panels slide a bit outward in oder to transform to robot mode
• Can now kick Blaster and Jazz in the ass
• Awesome detail

 

Wait a minute... does that last picture in the instructions call the weaponized cassette player a spy submarine?

It kinda looks like one as a line art drawing, probably not so much with the real model with the color and paint apps
