Everyone does and I thought I'd share the reason why so you don't freak out the next time an ad makes something look better than it really is (which is all of them)

 

This thing has always looked like shit to me.

 

A couple more pin hinges on that back flap and it could have folded up and out of the way. It doesn't neeeeeed to be there.

Did you just congratulate ... yourself? ... on something that wasn't really a burn to begin with? Maybe did you forget to log into your alternate account first?  

Regardless... I keep waffling on this guy. Sometimes I like how he looks. Sometimes I hate it. Sometimes I want him, sometimes I think to myself that it'd be a waste of money. I love the detail printing on the toy, and the color, and the size, and the alt mode - but the prospect of floppy joints or non-locking transformations is very off-putting.

It seems like the kind of thing that would be a very easy decision to make if I could just hold it in my hands and know what I was getting into before buying it. Unfortunately they just haven't perfected a tactile internet just yet, so I suppose I'll just keep on pondering.

 

Quin if you keep on waffling it means he is probably not for ya   wait for a classics soundwave, it will happen, maybe PE will make one.

 

If there's a Classics Soundwave, it'll be a modern interpretation like Perceptor. Hasbro have said the real-gear types don't perform as well. Understandable, the alternate forms don't "play" with one another like cars and trucks do.

If you want a modern update of the mini-cassette recorder, you'll need this one, unless Perfect Effect make another release in the vein of their Reflector.

As far as the tab goes - folding up would not work. There's literally no better way to incorporate that without sacrificing something - the leg transformation needs it, the main body slimming down means having it go sideways is not an option. When you have the weapons attached to the back, it is a lot less noticeable - they give the back more bulk.

 

Nice new pic. I've just come to terms with that back tab. This thing has only ONE piece ok kibble, thats awesome for any Transformer.

About PE. They are making a Soundwave, or have plans to. I don't think it will be a Casette player. I have no clue what it is but it appears to have an antenna. I would also assume that whatever it is it will be interactive with the rest of the PE cassettes gone weapons masters.

Someone just mentioned non locking parts....did I miss something? I watched the 8 min review I posted and saw it in both modes and transformed, seems like everything locked in place to me.

My only concern in that right arm of his. In one pic his left arm is off to the side but I have yet to see the right arm positioned anywhere other than his side. Still not enough for me to pass this guy up. This will be the only Classics styled Cassette player Soundwave we will ever get. Anything else will either be a non cassette player or G1 with modern engineering.

Not bad but I prefer the MP3 player Soundwave I already own as a Classics Soundwave.

 

It can pose - the shoulder's not the greatest, though clear nail polish can probably tune it up a bit more since it is a balljoint.

 

This is definitely one of those toys that looks kinda bad standing around all static like, but looks infinitely better in a dynamic pose.

Question, are these your pics? Are they of the Botcon pre release version or the mass release version?

 

It looks to be the final figure, since the silver parts of the legs have been reworked to bend.

I can't wait for mine to get here. I've been waiting for a Soundwave that fits in with the rest of my classic figures.

 

DAMN IT I loved the TF1 Real Gear figures!

 

But it's pretty obvious that most people didn't. Those things shelfwarmed like crazy.

That said, I need to hunt down another High Score. Need his head for a custom, but the dude's surprisingly expensive on eBay now.

 

The completed auctions went for 4 and change and 1 and change. He's practically free.

 

Hrm, haven't been searching lately, apparently. Usually when I see him around, he's hovering around $15-20. Will have to be more vigilant then.

I don't understand all of the hate. Figure looks pretty cool. I mean, it's no comparison to the original. But a neat "classics" style update. Now the original preview, I had my issues, the head looked really small, and had the original soundwave inward knees. Looks like those have been fixed.

But now is that just for the black repaint? is the blue version still have those faults? Other than that, I really cant see any problems. The red looks really good on the black. I'd like one of these! Just need some cassettes...
