New trilogy, possibly new director, same continuity? Sure, I'll bite. I think the fact that the "Big 4" cons (megs, scream, Shockie and soundwave) won't hurt, and I'd love for some lesser known cons to get some love. Id love to see Lockdown, Blackarachnia, Blitzwing, Lugnut and Bludgeon.

I think the new trilogy should start small(ish). I'd love to see a story line based on the MECH substory, where a group of international terrorists are kidnapping autobots and trying to harness the power of cybertronian technology. Autobots VS an army of man made mechs? Fuck yah!

I don't believe anything I hear right now to be honest. That's just how I've approach everything with the movieverse.

I'm excited to see what new direction and story a new crew could continue this franchise in. I thin, since most of the main villains were off'ed in DOTM, maybe Sixshot or Thundewing would make good villains???
That said, I think the only way they could take it back to just 'bots is maybe a cool prequel(or even sequel, whatever) done in super high quality CG. Think FF: Advent Children. Think of it like Transformers Prime on steroids!!! But it sounds like that may not appeal to mass audiences, so we'll end up with filler humans and crappy big name cameos that add nothing (in fact detract) from the heroes of these Transformers movies: thr fucking TRANSFORMERS!!!!! (Seriously, wtf was up with John Malkoviches part in DOTM?)

I'm fine with this, but I am concerned about how the action will look without Bay and his team working on it. :(

As long as they don't get Paul Greengrass, we shouldn't need a vomit bag when it comes to action sequences.

Good work. I am glad of this.

Plus, the transformers franchise is a all encompassing cash cow. Not all the different sides to it are going to grab peoples attention. The G1 cartoons now are just so bloody awful. Sure the basic story ideas are good but they haven't aged that well sadly.

I'm glad that Speilberg/Murphy/Bay did this. It made TF big again, and better and more widely known than it ever has been. It's more in the public focus than ever before in these last four years. Brilliant!

Excited to see what's to come. Just give me Edgar Wright as director and keep the same models and lets see what comes of it.

That is just what Murphy is saying. Just because characters were one way in the cartoon in 1986, does not mean they will be that way in a different incarnation. If they used Cyclonus and/or Scourge in a live-action setting, I doubt they will be wussies.

No reboot??? Do we have to deal with another 3 movies with crappy robot designs and a story that has nothing to do with core transformers history? I cannot understand why anyone thinks that these 3 movies were good especially as a trilogy. There was nothing that connected the movies together each one seem like its own story or a sorry attempt to make a story. They just need to start over, get some GOOD writers who have a clue about transformers in a whole to give the bots personality. Actually have a movie called Transformers where the bots are not guest starring in their own movie where the human have center stage...I could go on an on about my frustations over this "franchise" but its just me opinion. But the masses have spoken and as long as people keep feeding into this weak interpretation of the Transformers that is what they will keep on making, a soulless cash cow.

Uhh, DOTM had that exact same problem. The only action scenes until the final act were Laserbeak going after Sam and the Dreads. For the rest it was also just over talk and boring. And DOTM was dark, too, or at least trying to be.

    truth from what perspective?

You can chalk up just about any movies success in the past 15 plus years, despite script, to ILM. There really arent many large budget ILM movies that have flopped.

Generally the spectacle ILM puts on is worth the price of admission. This could have been gobots and youd still rake in alot of cash so Don taking credit for everything is mostly short sighted.

The TF brand definately doesnt hurt it helps but to say its his vision and michael bays that make it billion dollar movies I think is short changing how amazing farrar and ILM are at there job aswell as the popularity of a Toyline that has existed for 25+ years.

I have thought right along if the movies had a better story and better characterization they would have made way more money and not alienated large parts of the fanbase. Movie 1 and 2 are hard to watch honestly 3 I d say they finally got most of it right but ultimately the movie verse needs a new direction.

I dont think Speilberg directing is going to make it any better unless he goes back to his roots. He was a better director when he tried to stay serious and realistic. Movies even like Indiana Jones as fanstastical as they were seemed to stay grounded in reality unless you count the last one which was taking on way to large of a topic for an indy franchise.

F u 2 Don (I'm part of the one who thinks we know better)! You are only like this because it earned money. Its all about the fucking money. I hope you can sustain this because one flop and its over. You have no respect for the fandom. We never wanted the cartoony stuff. We wanted was substance and good story telling. The statement is wrong --- how can Tobey be so damn expensive when the whole Spider-man series earned more than 1 billion dollars? You are just too greedy. The kid deserved some money.
