If Peter Cullen didn't play the voice of Optimus in these movies how many of us would have actually seen the first one? (be honest).

Yeah, probably many of us. We may deride it afterwards, but we'll still see it simply because it's a silver screen movie with the Transformers name slapped on it.

 

Peter Cullen as Optimus wasn't a dealbreaker for me, as I was born after G1 had finished. I didn't have Cullen as Optimus, I grew up with Beast Wars. While I knew he had voiced the original in the 80s, TF07 was actually the first time I'd heard Cullen as Prime.

 

I'm sorry, but I don't think Optimus' character relies solely on his voice. His voice in Armada, his voice in Animated? I would have been just fine with that on movie prime.

 

I would have still seen it because I had never watched G1 until after I saw the movie, so the movie introduced me to Peter Cullen.

Well Frank Welker didn't voice Megatron and many of us didn't hold that against the movie. I'am glad Peter Cullen was chosen but even if he wasn't I probably would have gone to see it anyway.

 

Peter was more of a bonus to me, not a make-or-breaker.

The previews were enough to get me into the theater, from that shot of Starscream jumping into the air and transforming, to Optimus doing so in front of Sam and Mikaela.

 

I wouldve seen it anyway cause I didnt know who Peter Cullen was till after I saw it and looked him up

 

I woulda seen it regardless , but would have all the hair stood up on my arms during the opening speech if someone else did it ? No chance , and yah I'm an old timer

 

For me Peter Cullen was just the, outstanding, cherry on top. I was already going to see it before I even knew he was voicing Optimus.

 

Honestly, I can't tell. Cullen was one of the key factors in making it a Transformers movie as opposed to a standard alien invasion flick. Besides, I seem to recall the announcement of Cullen being the voice of Prime as a major turning point in gaining fan support.

 

As much as I love Peter Cullen's Optimus Prime voice, im pretty tired of Cullen's "epic-speech-mode"

I would like a "younger voice" for Optimus, still a deep voice but younger, Cullen's G1 voice was GREAT!!!

Now, for a possible Prowl I would like Josh Duhammel's voice...  

 

yea i would of seen it with or with out Peter Cullen, though they were all made better movies because of Cullen  

 

Having Peter Cullen voice Optimus was icing on a 3 tiered Transformers Cake.  

 

I think a more legit question would be, "How many people would still like Movie Optimus if he hadn't been voiced by Peter Cullen?"

 

I would because it's still Optimus and they would have probably gotten Gary Chalk to voice him, who was the voice of my first Optimus.

Although hearing Gary Chalk doing OPs voice would have been really jarring for me.
