Jeez, I'm glad they toned down the Dreads. I like their over the top alien look in the movie, but the concepts here are TOO over the top.

I hate how organic the some of the transformers have become. The Dreads, concept and film, don't look like robots. The long sharp teeth really made them lose the feel of robots. These concept art are really good and fun to look at, but doesn't feel like robots. And I wish there weren't so many drones in their cybertronian forms. Slap some color and car parts on these guys in the film and it'll much better.

Interesting. It looks like the concept art of Brains has tires. I wonder what he was going to turn into. In the movie he turns into a laptop.

I'm starting to suspect the Dreads don't fit your definition of a robot.

The concept art in itself, is nice.

But like the poster above me, am not a fan of the demon-like look they went with for the Dreads. They don't feel like Transformers anymore, and seems more like they belong to some exorcism movie or even AVP. They're nothing more than just evil beasts.

I understand they wanted to distinguish the bad guys from the good guys. But designs like Brawl, Bonecrusher or even Blackout conveyed the evil robot feel well enough.

Nice work, but they reinforce my dislike of the movieverse aesthetic drawing from the well of HR Gieger and the like (Aliens, Predator, even The Matrix robots which dreive from Gieger). Makes me wonder what our Transformers movie would have looked like if they pursued a more appealing look deriving from G1, but taking it to a new visual level of complexity (like WFC). So many possibilities.

Still like many of the movie designs, (Sideswipe, Ratchet, Long Haul) but this new concept art just reinforces to me, that Bay went generally the wrong direction -- IMHO.

I agree, they don't feel anything like TransFormers. If you should these to me before you told me they were for TransFormers, I would never have guessed it.

You are right. I like some of what the robots look like in the movies. But a lot of them...Bay did go the wrong way. Now that it's done and over with. I would have liked to see more of what you said about a little more G1 look. Just a little.

Agreed. These Dreads look like they belong to another type of alien species. Far too fluid and organic to be Transformers.

The thing I like about the Dreads (especially in Proto-form) is that they look very in keeping with the elder god look I can totally see these as hanging out on Earth a few Thousand years ago and becoming the basis of Egyptian animal-god mythology.

And they can hardly look like an SUV in the past.

I understand why people look at these images in horror though, and I would too if I was not able to compartmentalise my feelings on them, I just look on them like I do G1 G1 are a bunch of bricks but they are what they are so I don't think they are bad "in context" - likewise these are not bad "in context" I prefer the more mechanical looking ones like Bonecrusher, Blackout or Scrapper though in general.

I think that dread reminds me of Visser 3 a bit. http://tfwiki.net/w2/images2/thumb/c/cd/Visser_Three_Ultra_Toy.jpg/350px-Visser_Three_Ultra_Toy.jpg Incidently I was looking for a link and found this - never saw this one before : http://www.puzzlezoo.com/assets/photos/TFAN01012f.jpg

This dude is awesome! I bet he was an early design for Que! Still, it'd be cool to get a toy of the design like we got toys of Depth Charge and Breakaway.
