So pretty much, I just wanted to know what KO's are like. My brother has the animated "Chromia" which I didn't realize was KO until he told me. They seem good, but are they really great?

Well. KO toys don't make the toys they sell them. I have bought from them in the past and all good! But don't expect much in the way of after service.

I've never had any problems from KO toys, I've ordered many times also so maybe I just get lucky.

they are great for when you want things that Hasbro won't produce, like

    Rainmakers
    Sunstorm
    etc.

Or for getting rare collectibles and Limited stuff, much much cheaper. Quality is a hit or miss at times.

i ordered with a friend. i never buy online. so he ordered it for me. the guy doesn't check his emails. took about a month and change for them to realize that they sent the package to the incorrect address. brilliant. extremely. my friend never ordered from them again.

can't comment about the products since they don't make it.

I think the thread title is badly worded, from the post it seems to be about knockoffs in general, not the site. But I could be wrong.

Same here. While some may have had good experiences with the "site".....I too initially did....but then.....well I won't comment on that since I think I've harped enough about what I think of them. However, you can always talk to daelite. He sells them :)

I think he is talking about KO Toys, not KOToys the store.

    Ebay:
    Or 'Knock Off Transformers'.

Some knock offs are very high quality. Some are very low quality. The debate surrounding the ethics of KOs is one that will never end.

KO Transformers tend to be rather hit or miss really. some of them are really good quality, as good (and on the VERY rare occasion) better than an official toy
Usually the plastic material is a lower quality than a HasTak toy, and you tend to see more screws than pins, extremely floppy or WAY to tight joints, etc.
Pretty much if you go to buy a KO, I would suggest checking out reviews for it and make certain that the KO you're buying is the one that you checked the reviews for.
I've bought several KO toys over the years, though I usually go for toys that are of a comparable quality to HasTak toys, if only so that they'll hold up to play and kitbashing.
As I thought the same as several other people... KOToys is a decent site as things go, they have a wide range of knock offs available and many of the toys have a quick review telling you the quality of the toy (also, most of them are pictured in both modes next to a ruler SO nice). My primary issue is the shipping costs -I've never had the problems some people have reported of long response time, and shipping is usually average. I can't comment on what happens to boxed toys as i always buy the toys loose.
*shrugs* Basically buying a KO is like buying any toy. Check the reviews and make sure you're getting what you THINK you're getting and for a reasonable price^^

Thread title misleading but thats why people need to read the OP :D .

Anyways the 2 things i can say about knock offs are these:
    1. You get what you pay for.
    2. Dont have to high of expectations when buying knock offs outside of the high quality g1 knock offs.

Ok, if they don't make the toys, then who does?
Since some other company makes them, are there any other places to get them? I'm particularly interested in the seekers, deep cover, and the animated medic.
And sorry about the title. I didn't know that a different company made them.

Kotoys has their own that they make like the Kold and Klear i cant speak of the quality of these but check the feedback forum. There is a company that has made some good ko seekers i wanna say CHMS not sure if thats exact. Those are the only companies i know of specifically. Than you have the kos that are sold at places like big lots and those are junk. I got the Devastator ko from there and talk about a piece of crap (hence why am i glad Devy is getting the encore release). My best recommendation is that if you wanna know about a certain ko check the feedback section and do a search in the feedback section for reviews.

I've been disappointed in all KO toys I've purchased in the past like high quality g1 devy, yellow cliffjumper, henkei seekers (both mold versions). I'm avoiding KOs as much as possible

I love knock-offs. They're either hilarious, awesome, or hilariously awesome.

I enjoy the silly knock-offs that are in garish colors and off sizes. Quality can range from near-Hasbro to "crumble before you even get it off the card." Some of the most fun toys I've had have been KO's. CHMS are the best, though.

As for KOToys the site, I would NEVER recommend buying from him for too many reasons to list here, reasons which would probably get me an infraction for saying them.
