Heh. It would seem that it does. Reused or not, the freeway chase was one of my favorite sequences. The bipedal dreads looked really cool running around, flipping cars and whatnot.

Who cares? It was his movie. He has the right to do with the footage as he pleases. Lazy? Perhaps, but that doesn't change that Dark of the Moon is still a better movie as a whole. Besides that's like 30 seconds of actual footage. Maybe there is more but still he has the right to do with it as he pleases. I'm still indifferent about the ending of DotM, but it's still a better movie.

    did we need proof?

    does it even matter?

I wouldn't even call it lazy. The Island was not a huge success, why not reuse a shot that was great in a movie that more people can enjoy it in? It was a smart move from a smart director.

I don't care if he used other footage. At least it was from his movie, so he still did the work for it and not rip it from someone else.

It was one of the best sequences. I loved when Sideswipe and Bumblebee vaulted over the wreckage in Stealth Force mode.

If this is the case then, I don't blame him. There was already on accident filming DOTM and Bay pries himself on the safety of his performers.

Or this journalist is mistaken and is talking about the extras injury from DOTM filming.

Looks like someone beat me to it, i was about to say this is the scene where the extra got injured and if they are still in litigation forthis they probably by law cannot use the footage, plus out of respect it might be best not to use the footage. Her family probably doesn't want footage out there where their loved one was almost killed and her life permenantly altered

Agreed. I loved this scene so much. I thought it was really well done. The dreads running on the highway and overturning cars was so cool. and sideswipe and bumblebee dodging cars after them. And it all culminated in the mexican standoff. And the music that was playing during it was so epic. The whole sequence was just so intense. I actually liked it more than the forest fight scene. It just screamed transformers to me. The highway scene really made the movie for me. I didn't see the island so I never would have noticed them using some scenes from it.

:rolleyes2  We care. No really, we do. :rolleyes2

Its not like this is the first time Bay has done it and he isn't the only director to have done it. Peter Jackson did it in Lord of the Rings. I'm confident others have as well, I know I've seen it in other movies I just don't remember off the top of my head.

Being a huge fan of the Island (specifically that chase scene), I INSTANTLY recognized both clips that were from the Island. I was like... "Did Bay just do that?" Then after the 2nd and 3rd viewings of DOTM, I was okay with it. It really wasn't too distracting. I am more okay with the Dread crashing into the car than I was the flipping Magnum. The color and the smoke did not fit the scene as well.

No biggy, though. The Highway chase with the Dreads was a highlight of the movie for me.

(Yes, I saw DOTM 3 times in a 24 hour period..... I LOVED IT!)

The article shows that they are finding any kind of way to rip into bay, even though he did a fantastic job with DOTM they still moan about something

Agreed. Someone was terribly injured WHILE filming DOTM, its was all over the net, its in the Wiki entry. So if this footage was reused, this is not the footage that left someone injured.

I think what they're saying is that BECAUSE someone was injured, maybe they resued the footage to reduce general risk.

Honestly they probably reused it to save time and therefore money so it could better be spent on something that really mattered, not some smashed cars onscreen for 3 seconds.

I honestly think he does it to not only just to save money and the accident may have had something to do with it (maybe he had new shots and replaced them out of respect), but I bet Bay laughs b/c now people have 'mostly' unkowningly viewed bits of his other works that they most likely never saw previously.

I mean the film had one million refrences to everything, halo, g1, gears, cloverfield....it all felt very much on purpose, and they also wanted the audience to not miss the star trek nods, thats why they had wheelie watching it on tv and had Nimoy quote lines.

I think Bay put/snuck in whatever he loved in real life in the film on purpose.

Just like a Simpsons or Venture Bros episode would do....

The scene still played out great. He can re-use whatever shots he wants from his older films as long as it works and looks awesome.

I agree. I love the Island, and have seen it numerous times. I actually thought that the highway scene in DOTM reminded me of the Island. But, until someone pointed it out. I didn't think it was the same footage. And it was merely just a few shots. I mean...really, does anyone really care? DOTM was amazing. And the scenes where blended in so well, it worked great. And that live action car crashing scene was just so perfect for Dark of the moon. People have to get a life and not really point out a 3 second scene and be like, look what I figured it out. I mean there's transforming robots, but for 1.5 seconds it was just like, but not the same as this other movie. LMAO Give me a freaking break

I don't give a damn where the scene is originally from. The part where Sideswipe and Bumblebee launch themselves in the air gave me boner and was amazing.
