All the people in this thread who don't agree with me simply should or accept it when I flip out and that's the fact of the matter.

Do you cheer, clap, or make any other kind of emotional outbursts while watching sports at home on TV? What about at the pub? If so, than why? Your team can't hear you. Besides, you may be disturbing others who wish to watch is peace.

I think the problem was that the actor's were drownd out, the players don't usually talk, well or at least they don't say anything very important. I'd like to watch DOTM at home lol :D  Clapping at the end (while silly) wouldn't be as bad I spose.

people in my area would have laughed at the OP for standing up trying to yell at people for enjoying the movie.
ive said it before. its a public theater not your private showing.

there is a huge difference in being disruptive for your own personal reasons vs being involved with the movie and showing your appreciation for it with others

Sport and movies are two different forms of entertainment. Footballers do not have a script for me to listen to or a story to tell. All I need to do is watch them kicking a ball around so background noise is not an issue.

It is not your private showing so you should let others actually hear and get absorbed in the film not make distracting noises that drown out dialogue just because you get over excited and don't care about being distracting towards others.

there are alternatives if you wish to view it alone in a dark room with no emotion like a robot.
you're in public, not in your den or home where you control every small detail of how you would like to enjoy your films. purposeful ignorance and disrutive behavior is one thing, showing your appreciation with others is totally another.

Being polite and courteous to others so they can actually hear and get absorbed in a film doesn't mean I am emotionless. I'm just not so controlled by my emotions I can't control my actions at the expense of others.

You are also in public so should show respect for others trying to enjoy the movie. Me sitting quietly watching a film does not ruin anyone elses experience but making noise does. But all you seem to care about is your own enjoyment.

In a way I can understand people thinking films like this are there just to clap at as maybe we are not ment to care about the script and just get excited over the explosions but when I watch a film I want to hear what is being said and get absorbed in the film not taken out of the movie by noise around me. Also it may be an age thing though even when I was younger I found noise around me annoying if trying to watch a movie.

Come on you guys, he just yelled at a couple of people he thought were obnoxious in the theater.

Haven't we all wanted to at some point?

And is it that big of a deal anyways? He'll never see those guys again. Why do we care?

wow, people clap over there? They dont in Europe.

And above that, we have subtitles in my country. So disruptive people dont make me miss lines.
and i know a saying about dont do things others do. So if others are disruptive, and you try to shut them up you are practically doing the same... im sure someone else in the theater thinks: geez, can that guy shut up as well and just dont care?!

From what he's saying, the general theatre was cheering, not a rowdy bunch of teens gettin' their drink on.

    yuppers,

personally i dont yell or cheer because i find it a lil silly, but i dont mind when others do it as long as the mood of the room is the same

i will rarely go to the movies if its a movie i know i would like to view and get sucked into, i will often just wait for the eventual home release for that when i can control my environment to the comfort level i need for that.

the issues that always seems to come up in theaters is, you have paying people that feel they should get the experience they want for paying their money. which i totally understand.

it might just be how i view the differences and purposes of theaters and home theaters....but i really dont expect to get the best experience from a public theater anymore...i actually think the old method of distributing a movie to a large movie house is outdated and people should be able to receive the films they want they way they want. all this 3d crap is the movie industry realizing they have nothing that a home set up cannot offer better then they can in terms of technical performance and personal preferences.

theaters really ONLY have the public experience to offer anymore....losing that they offer nothing.

its similar to how old arcades use to be the place to go if you wanted to play the "best" games the best way possible but now people game from their homes and look back at what they miss with the acrade experience that use to be.

yeah i told someone off... this guy bought his girlfriend along who was as dumb as a bag of hair and they just wouldn't shut up. For the first hour all i heard was.. ooh i like him.. OMG He's soooo funny!what's happening?!.. (it's not complicated luv, the truck turns into a robot and makes the other robot go boom!)
Jeez.. then they just started talking about their day... or Charlene and why she's all annoyed with Kevin, and how he doesn't understand why she's annoyed. they weren't even trying to whisper..
if i wanted an inane pointless commentary over my film i'd watch the DVD of Mamma Mia...

Still this was Staines so what can i expect

I agree that it's not that big of a deal. Which is why I pointed out that people were ridiculing the OP for posting about it.

Maybe TFW2005 needs an Everything/Nothing subforum.

You avoided my question. I asked if you cheer at sports on the TV. If so, why do you do it? The team can't hear you. This was your argument against clapping during a movie. So, do you?

Besides, maybe some people like to hear what the announcers and commentators have to say.
