I was thinking why they would just end the movie with a Trilogy and not continue the series seeing that it was so successful. I mean the first Transformers was a huge hit, the second movie despite its flaws was also a huge hit. Why would they end the franchise knowing they were successful? I think they could of had thought out part 3 better and set up for a part 4 and start another set of 3 movies. I personally think the film makers got tired of making such a huge movie that they need a break, but who knows.

Any movie series that does a 4th film in less than 5 years makes the series feel overused. If they're making another one, just let the TF movies breathe.

Okay, second showing and now the movie officially passes into my personal favourites list: even the second time around I didn't glance at my watch once.

Still a solid 9/10, but I can see some of the editing and pacing issues others were talking about, the final fight scene in particular does seem a little disjointed at times but once Optimus does his swoop in bit, it all ties together pretty nicely.

was there something special about the bank truck?

the building was damaged in a way completely unlike the tragedy of 9/11. it basically looked like a Jenga tower, where you remove the block on either side of one row, and just leave the middle one, making it very wobbly... so when the giant worm of doom starts hitting it, it's gonna start leaning in whichever direction it's pushed.

yeah, that was definitely a dumb decision, even if it was the best spot to get a shot off... any other building probably woulda been a safer bet. that said, the giant worm of doom still would've taken out a perfectly good building all the same.

i agree with you. SP going after OP one last time would've been kinda nice, but even as he was talking, SP was still saying his plan was right and that the humans needed to die, so OP just taking him out did make sense, especially since movieverse Prime is fucking badass...

I also like Shia and his humor schtick. The stuff with the watch seemed a bit odd to me, as he wasn't really acting all that different, but the watch kept like forcing his arm around things and near computers, which just felt forced. it's like they wanted to try and do something funny. I would've dropped the humor after SP kills Ironhide, but it was mostly that scene and one other after Ironhide drops that I felt like it just wasn't necessary in my opinion.

and on second watch, the "deep wang" stuff, while funny with most of the audience both times i've seen it, also felt forced. He could've gone about it in a more sane way, and talked to Sam about the truth, and given him the papers, but at the same time, i guess it had to happen in the bathroom since Lazerbeak was spying on everywhere else in the office... still, it came off weird. as did the laughs at him being pushed out the window. I liked John Malcovich as the crazy boss, but his reaction after the death was also a bit forced. but whatever, I still loved the movie, not gonna let a 5 minute segment ruin the rest of the movie for me...

The part where all the autobots were fighting Sentinel at the end was perfect. I want this movie on DVD so I can watch that scene again :D

I felt like I was watching the Live action version of the Ultimate Doom.

    Human coloaborators
    Shockwave gets pwned
    Traitors
    Cybertron being teleported to earth
a special device for controling people
    Carly
    And several other parallels.

It was better than ROTF though.

Still in 2 out of 3 movies Megtron is either barely used or is some other bot's pawn or lakey. He never was used right.

I felt they could have done better with the bot's characterizations. Most of them have little speaking screen time and are dispatched quickly or hardly talk. That's the major down fall of the TF movies so far, they seem like secondary characters in their own movie to Sam and the Military.

    Still I'll buy the Bluray

But if they make more movies I'd like to see a little more focus on the bots.

Saw it tuesday night. Overall I liked it.

    DISLIKES:
    * Editing really hurt it. There was a lot of great story that wasn't landing its punches because of editing that lingered on x when they should have been focused on y for emotional impact and plot absorbtion for the audience.
    * Almost all the end fights were unsatisfying. When OP dropped the Driller so fast I was like, ok, this is the warm up. Then I sit there with my jaw on the floor as humans essentially kill Shockwave, the super hyped villain that went out way too fast and had like no screen time. And then Megs just kills SP and a one armed OP just kicks his ass like its nothing? C'mon.
    * Way too little Wreckers and a bad explanation as to why they were there. Also, tiny gripe, no "Wreck and rule". I barely even saw Topspin.
    * BB killing Soundwave. Really? Really? C'mon.
    * Sentinel Prime's resurrection should have featured bots actually saying welcome back and somewhat celebrating his return to further show the love for him they had and also...
    * Show Ironhide shake his hand and say welcome back, SP saying its an honor to be back alongside him, something like that would have REALLY improved IH's death scene and made it more impactful for the audience.
    * SP was TOO evil. I get if he's a good guy who's realized there's only one way to save his people and he goes for it. But the flat out evil type behaviour didn't suit who they were saying he was.
    * They needed to introduce Wheeljack (his name is Wheeljack, shut it), like have Lennox ask him how hes settling in or something. That way when he goes oh btw, I made you guys some cybertronian gear to beat up Cepies, it wouldn't feel so cheap and video game like. And here are your power upgrades for the boss level! Thanks guy who hasn't said, done or interacted with anything all movie so far. You're awesome.
    * The ending was like those old movies where the lead guy and the lead girl say I love you and it abruptly goes to credits. No epilogue. No chance to let it all sink in. Just hey we won, that's all folks, g'night! Credits.
    * No shots at all of the Decepticon battle cruisers entering orbit or even reaching Chicago. All of the sudden, they're just there.
    * Really didn't like Soundwave taking orders from Dylan. I mean, its Soundwave, the information guy. I would have believed it more if Dylan had been like, kill them. And Soundwave, firstly, telling the weak human to stfu, but secondly explaining that he wishes to gather info from them. Then maybe kill Wheeljack through some creepy tenticles sucking frying his head/brain/processor as Soundwave rips the data from him. OR just replace Soundwave in that scene with a Dread, they would have totally worked in the scene as is, which emotionally, was fantastic.
    * Needed a tiny quick scene of the wreckers arming the bots with guns, either establishing this in the beginning, even into the opening drive through the NEST base, could have been happening/overheard just behind the main subjects. The last 2 movies, transforming weapons. Suddenly in this movie, hand held external weapons. Would have liked even a sentence or two showing the wreckers handing out guns or something to show where they came from. Just a Wrecker handing out guns saying, keeps your energon levels up without the drain of internal weapons. Something.

    LIKES:
*The intro was amazing. Best 3D in the movie. Honestly, I barely noticed the 3D in the rest of it.
    * The over all plot was great. Editing weakened its impact, but the story itself was fantastic. This was very much more the TF film I've wanted to see than the previous two.
    * Loved the score. LOVED the score. Jablonsky's best work to date hands down.
    * Loved the Wreckers, sad they had to little time. I'd have preferred it if THEY had killed Shockwave rather than the humans. Would have been more believable.
    * I liked Sam way more in this one than the previous two. I loved that he played him as having Post Traumatic Stress Disorder a bit after the life he's lead so far. Totally believable. I also loved the modern issue of kids getting out of school, not being able to find work, and some old school parents not being able to understand why.
    * Beautifully shot. Way way way better camera work than the previous two.
    * The side character humans were great. Probably way too much screen time given to them though, if Bay isn't going to give the "investigation" scenes the time they need to land and sink in for the audience, just cut them down.
    * Battle sequences, especially the Decepticons vaporizing humans were fantastic. Some deaths were weak and way to rushed, but the over all combat itself was shot way better and had a good flow to it. Sentinel vs OP was pretty good.
    * LOVED the Black Hawk Down references. The two little bots getting abandoned in the fray and saying, "well they wouldn't just leave us". Word for word, right out of Black Hawk Down. That was awesome.
    * Loved when the Autobots showed up in Chicago. That was great. Though I still don't get why OP's gun spit out a spent shell. Granted, it could be a spent energy cell, but still, wtf, lol.
    * The scene of the autobots leaving Earth was FANTASTIC. Made even better by Sam crying... didn't make me feel as bad for welling up a tad.

    MIXED FEELINGS
    * Use of "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few" from Star Trek II just didn't seem to have any context in this film. When Spock said it, he was sacrificing himself to save others. In this, it was Sentinel mercilessly annihilating another species, after teaching OP that Freedom was the right of all sentient beings, Plus it seemed like the FEW were the Cybertronians, not the humans. It seemed like it would just "be cool" to have him say a line from Star Trek. I honestly don't think the context fit properly. It KIND of made sense, but not enough that it needed to happen.

Overall I really loved it though. Beautiful, great action, when the emotion landed it was WAY more impactful than anything in the previous two. I definitely need to see it again. The first time through I noticed what I didn't like to a distracting level because it just wasn't landing with what I'd hoped for. Too much hype I guess. And also really distracted and bummed by the fact that we didn't get the Mirage puppet show.

Yeah, that was an awkward scene. It went from being a pretty grave mood to comedy too quick. But like you said, it was only a few seconds.

I especially liked was when Starscream died like the whiny little bitch he is... And at least it was Cybertronian tech that took him down and not just a human frag grenade or something of that nature.

mephisto1138, i see some of your points, but i think you should check out the film again. Shockwave gets started on by the humans, but it takes almost every other Autobot to bring him down... First, the humans do their thing, which includes droppping a bomb in his neck... next, BB, Ratchet, Dino and Q all show up, and are taking him out, then the wreckers (albeit in vehicle mode) show up and shoot the crap out of him, before Optimus finally rips out his optics... I'd say Shockwave went down like a badass...

also, Bumblee taking down Soundwave was awesome... my wife, who's not a big TF fan at all, but enjoys the movies enough, said she was glad that BB could be goofy and silly sometimes, but that when it came down to it, he was a freakin skilled warrior, which he totally proved when taking Soundwave and blowing his freaking head off.

I felt bad for Megatron who had only a cute shotgun left for his main weapon.

Well I finally got to see it this morning. I don't have tons to add since it's pretty much been said.

It was a fantastic summer action movie. The plot was plenty coherent for me. I didn't have any dull parts or cringe worthy moments. I didn't even feel like the movie ended too quickly. I really enjoyed it a ton and I'll go see it in the theater again at least once more (tomorrow with my wife) for sure and probably two or three more times.

    Ironhide's Death

Still thinking about Ironhide's death and how it wasn't necessary or make sense. I understand Sentinal Primes' view but just killing Ironhide out of nowhere didn't seem correct. This is how I would have done it and I would have been ok with Ironhide's death.

Scene: Sentinal kills humans for telling him what to do and going against what he believes. He is used to being in charge.

Ironhide says, "why did you kill these innocent humans?"

Sentinal says, "why do you defend these creatures and listen to them. we have to do what is best for cybertron, our home world."

Ironhide says, "no, they are our allies. We have to work together"

(I know the dialogue is corny but at least there is a reason behind the death)

Then sentinal and Ironhide begin fighting and they have a cool battle. Sentinal could still end up killing Ironhide. But ends up dying defending the humans. Then the death makes more sense and I would be ok with it.

But to have the death just be coming out of nowhere, didn't make any sense to me. Some other parts of the movie didn't make sense either but this is the one that bugs me the most beside having an epilogue scene at the end of the movie to have more closure.

Yeah, I think I will be able to overlook a lot more after seeing it a second time. I do realize a lot of those were nitpicky. I also work as an art director in entertainment and write, so with any movie I unintentionally see any threads that I would have made use of that seem like wasted opportunity. Obviously Bay does what he does, nuance isn't in his to do list and it was about what I expected (IE really fun and nice to look at). I still very much enjoyed it and am looking forward to a second run through. Shockwave's death though would have been fine if they's shown him do more. Yeah he can wreck building with his driller, but he just didn't have enough build up considering the advertising hype around him. I would have like OP to be going head to head with Shockwave, but getting his ass kicked, being knocked down, then the humans jump in, do what they did, and THEN OP gets back up and does what he did. Soundwave getting killed by BB was just a personal bias towards Soundwave's awesomeness in general, lol.

Overall THIS was the TF film I wanted to see for the most part. I remember saying that to myself through a lot of the scenes. Especially OP talking with SP about earth, the matrix being offered, SP being brought back... there was a lot of good bot scenes. I also cared more about Sam than I ever had previously. I always liked him, except when he gave Prime lip in ROTF, but that's appropriate for his age/maturity level of his character. I know of all the films, this will be the one I rewatch the most. The plot was way more in line with what the fans are used to, so in the parts it didn't quite connect, I just wanted them to be better for the film's sake. A couple tiny tweaks and smoother editing and this really could have been one hell of piece of film, would have shut up a lot of haters with so very little work.

Don't get why Starscream freaked out like that. Could've just snipped the wire stuck to his eyeball instead of dancing around like a tardeo.

The movie was decent, was edited wierd to where scenes were falling a bit flat.
I bet Fargo lady wins a Razzy lol

Got to admit, Im ready to go see it again. The Sentinal fight was pretty cool.
