Of all 3 movies, I think this one deserved a longer ending.

I think this may be one of my biggest gripes with the movie. Optimus has just killed Sentinel. The good guys are standing in front of the good ol' Stars and Stripes. Optimus' voice-over begins; he gives a little uplifting speech, and the movie is over... on the bridge.

Now I didn't have a huge problem with the abrupt ending of the first movie, because it incorporated some different settings, and nicely set us up for a sequel. ROTF felt like it had a fairly satisfying ending. Optimus saved the day, and thanks Sam on the aircraft carrier, and sets us up for another sequel. In this one I felt like we should've gotten another five minutes, simply because this is the last movie before the highly probably reboot. I would have loved a eulogy for Ironhide, or see the Autobots in a character moment that better closes the franchise. Instead we got John Turturro making out with Frances McDormand in a wheelchair.

Agreed. Ironhide got even less of a goodbye than Jazz did!

I really got the feeling that the ending was cut short to reduce the already long running time. A movie like this needs a denouement.

Epilogue with Sam and Carly's wedding or with Brains and Wheelie coming out of thew wreckage or explaing what happens to NEST now is all i need for it to end right.

I would have liked to see a little more closure. Here are some ideas I have.

    1. The Autobots are made citizens of Earth (kinda like the ending of Short Circuit 2 but not as cheesy.)
    2. The UN Security Council (US, Russia, UK, France, China) send shuttles into space to study the debris left by Cybertron's destruction. They also restart the moon program to study the Ark.
    3. Optimus lets Bumblebee "retire" from active duty to live with Sam and Carly.

Maybe they'll add an epilogue to the DVD.

I agree with all of you. Those ideas are great but there is no way they will add anything to the DVD. Based on the novel and comic, the ending was always abrupt, which is sad since this is the last in this storyline.

i totally agree. They should have kinda done a "what are they doing now" type of thing. Such as sam proposing to carly, the autobots doing whatever they do now on earth, also showing them pay their respects to ironhide in some sort of bot burial or however they deal with deaths, stuff like that. its called CLOSURE

This was my ONLY complaint. I wanted... Not necessarily a pretty bow but some kind of "everyone went on to do this stuff" or a hooray autobots thank you. SOMETHING

Good point. Hate to say it, but the end of this trilogy could have benefitted from an Ewok celebration after such intensity, particularly Optimus Prime's brutal moments. Okay, maybe not Ewoks or the super long Lord of the Rings triple ending, but maybe something closer to the lighthearted laughs and riding into the sunset that capped off the original Indiana Jones trilogy nicely. I'm surprised I could sleep last night without dreaming that Prime was coming for my head.

Bumblebee pulled out all those rings, which was silly fun I guess, but it seemed kind of strange after all the death and destruction. A cut to a few months later with everyone doing alright, or the Autobots helping to rebuild Chicago could have helped. I'm not complaining, but I was left a little cold so this thread hit home. I can't tell if the calm after the storm is something we expect after good storytelling, or if it's something we expect because it's a cliche.

I think I was really expecting a final scene, maybe during the credits, where Wheelie and smoke head(brains?) come out of the ship in one piece. I can't believe that Leg-HumpBot became I character that I would have liked to see survive.

Even at the end of the first film, it was strongly implied that the Autobots went on to live life without war. IE, Ironhide went to live with Lennox, Bumblebee with Sam, etc.

I don't think there'll be any supplemental post-war stuff on the DVD/Blu-Ray. Maybe there'll be something with Sam & Carly, Sam's parents, Epps or Lennox, because it's likely that Bay shot something like that that ended up on the cutting room floor. To do any new bot-scenes would be incredibly expensive due to the cost of CGI.

im just playing off the comedy shown in movies where the white couple has a baby and its born black and the guy gets all pissed knowing the wife slept with someone else obviously, except carly and a bot. u dont have to overanalyze the mechanics of it

Both RotF and DotM ended too abruptly. The first movie wrapped things up in the end (Jazz recognized as dead, Autobots come to terms about staying on Earth, Deception corpses dumped in that trench, Starscream escapes, gov't attempting to keep it all quiet).

The extra scenes in the credits should've at least had the Autobots doing non-war stuff. Someone on another thread mentioned Bumblebee finding a gift from Q/Wheeljack - a new voicebox. Stuff like that would've been lovely, implying the story goes on even though all chances of a sequel have been cut.

Agreed. The ending shot was of Prime, and cut to the credits. Maybe they would honor Ironhide and Que/Wheeljack for their deaths. That would've been nice.

with no mention of Ironhide, it gave me some hope Optimus could revive him with the matrix as suggested on other boards, yet wasn't in the movie, I'm sure the re-paint of Ironhide will address it.

Some endings that I wish would have happened:

A - Sam and Carly get married, Ironhide and anyone that was involved in Chicago gets a proper buriel and Optimus gives a speech with a reattached arm.

B - Optimus is watching over Chicago being rebuilt and gives a speech then, again with a reattached arm.

C - Ironhide, Jazz, The Twins, The Arcee Sisters, Wheeljack and some others fight Megatron and the other Decepticons in the allspark.

D - A Nasa scientist sees something coming to earth and it turns out to be Unicron.

E - Optimus gets smart, gets all of his fallen autobot comrades and revives them all.

Options A and D should've been the ending.
