So i just checked Walmart.com & Target, and both list this dvd set as online only, not sold in stores. I would think that wont help this set sell well thats already going to have hurdles to overcome. Anyone else heard anything about this? It was nice with the previous sets being able to just pick them up at Walmart...

Well, I'm not surprised. I can't think of too many "subtitle only" sets that are sold at Wal-Mart and Target.

That's weird, the page I'm looking at right now doesn't have that anywhere. It says-

    Shipping and Pickup
    In stock for: Preorder

Maybe just Site to Store then.

Incidentally, Ultimate Optimus Prime says 'not sold in stores' as well, and we all know THAT isn't gonna happen...

    Hey Guys,

Got this message from Shout Factory regarding the issue:

So yes and no to the original question.

on a sidenote, i really have no knowledge of headmasters. do you think it's worst buying and getting into? not that i'm in a budget, but more like, 'well that sucked' aspect.

Headmasters was pretty bad but - being completely honest here - wasn't all of G1? XD The only reason it means anything is because it has characters you're used to. Headmasters introduces alot of new characters and drops alot of aspects of the original run... Not to mention some bizarre, Japanese-culture-relevant stuff (Sixshot is a ninja assassin)

It's up to you, but it's not the best piece of TF history ever... Unless they included those monstrous dubs.

Sheesh people. No more debating. For the price, this set is TOTALLY TOTALLY TOTALLY worth buying. In spite of its odd moments, who doesn't wanna see Blaster and Soundwave battle TO THE DEATH. It's an awesome continuation of the G1 series. EVERYONE should get it.... just 'cause it's cheap.

They should have spent a little money and dubbed them; they would have sold more.

Out of the three Japanese series, Masterforce is HANDS DOWN my favorite. Then Victory. Then Headmasters. The only thing that Headmasters really has going for it is that it's the only one that has characters from the first three seasons that people might be familiar with. The bad thing about Headmasters is that it can get... well... boring.

But yes, there should be no hesitation in buying this set.

Yeah, I'm with you. The other series have a lot going for them...BUT Headmasters having familiar characters is HUUUUGE.

Sadly... if they dubbed these, it wouldn't be the original voices (many are dead or 'expensive') and it would jack the price up like mad... while coming across like a fan dub.

It's a bad, bad option... even though it's the stuff of dreams. Too bad they didn't do it 20 years ago.

No surprise here with Subs only, too little cross appeal for it to risk retail shelf space.

Its available through Amazon which makes it dead easy to get ones hands upon it.

I've ordered it, no hesitation at all. It's really the only time you actually see Fort Max in action, outside of that horrible Rebirth.

I've seen the fight, it's totally not as great as you think it might be. Definitely not as epic as it should have been.

Besides, there's a better Blaster vs. Soundwave fight in Auto-Bop (Season 2, Part 2). And Soundwave wins! (sort of...)

Still have a Amazon Preorder. So no worries.

With fewer retailers though, Its going to impact sales, more than the beast wars season sets that I saw at walmart last week. so I hope the other single releases of masterforce and Victory do get released on amazon and other specialty outlets.

Glad I can finally watch headmasters without that dub. Because prior to this release all I had was that english dub, subtitled in english on Video CD bootlegs. (video cds were a format popular in china. But it does'nt hold a lot of video per disc. I think its like 32 discs to chug though the whole series.

Yeah. I love Headmasters. I adore the super sentai take on Transformers, Especially Fortress Maximus Synchronization and Sixshot the Ninja Consultant.
If I can critique headmasters on anything, its that its very saturday morning formulaic action cartoon with perhaps to much explanation and talking going on.
