the version i went to see had that speech too. but he stopped at "planet and its people." "for i am optimus prime, and i send this message to the universeL we are here. we are home." wasnt in there. maybe it was just my cut of the movie. i will admit the ending felt a little cliff hanger' ish, but if it had had that last line in it, i think it wouldent have felt so much so like that.

I just thought they were Hatchlings, semi-evolved from what we saw in ROTF.

I loved the movie. For me, it took the best parts of the first movie (mostly the second half) and combined it with the robot presence and action in the second. DOTM did become my favorite of the three movies when we saw it last night.

Personal favorite scene was the Dread fight on the freeway.

I caught the midnight showing of this film and I enjoyed it despite the flaws..

I honestly didnt see the twist coming many because the culture of TF ive never know forSentinel Prime to betray the Autobots like that so that was pretty awesome. The bots got alot of screen time which was a nice, but thats because the the movie was so long, and the human element STILL got more screen time than the bots. The wreckers were pretty cool, though and there was some great battle scenes. Bay did do a good job of making the Autobots very distinguishable from the Decepticons.

The negatives are pretty plentiful, EVERY death in the movie was completely anti-climactic except Ironhide's. The never explain how or how long shockwave has been on earth and why he was even there in the first place. It was pretty easy to see that he was just fanboy bait, only making 2 breif appearances in the entire movie. Optimus Prime spends 3/4 of the rising action stuck in some crane wires which was... weird. An Megatron, was BARELY in the movie used more as a deuce ex machina character than a real threat. But my single biggest complaint is how much the humans kick ass. They we WAY to effective. Oh and Carly being able to 'convince' Megatron to fight Sentinel.

But it was a fun flick and way better than the second i knew what to expect and it neither exceeded or fell short of these expectations.

I know this comment is days old, but seriously. You'd have to go back and argue this same point with the original Transformers series. It has always been about what is convenient for the plot. In my opinion, this makes this movie more G1 than ever.

I'm okay with the name Dee-no. Why? Dee-no, aka Mirage, didn't do much as Mirage would do. And I love all the red in the movie.

I want my money from Bay, the Twins were in the movie (in car mode) at the same spot they were in the previews. I almost wish they had kept them in and killed them off like in the novelization!

There's two ways to look at it. Was he meant to get the cell or was it all just part of the plan? Plus he got his ass owned by Prime in the comic, I doubt he wanted to have a go at him again.

Chicago is a big place, but it's a movie :p

I have mixed feelings about it.

Overall, I really liked it a lot.
Battle in Chicago was excellent, Bumblebee was awesome with all of his flip out stuff. The Dreads scene was done really well and was exciting. I did like Wheelie and Brains, even if I was confused why Brains always had smoke coming off him. I was glad Sam's parents had a very small role in the movie. I did like the "justification" for the Chernobyl incident, and the alternate history bit about the landing on the moon.

    I did not like:
Most of the first half of the movie. There were definitely parts of that where I was getting bored. I don't think the pacing in it was as good as ROTF.

Most of the "jokes" in the movie. I herd people laughing around us but they just weren't funny.

The music was terrible. I seriously cringed every time a song started in the movie.

    Some other observations.

Why did Megatron have bugs in his head, I even saw these near the end of the movie?

    Why was Brains smoking?

Why did all of this other stuff happen since the last movie and yet BB still can't talk?

Ironhide had to be the one to die, because they had to show the elevated stakes and they weren't going to kill OP or BB, so it was either Ratchet or Ironhide, and Ratchet was nearly useless in 3 movies, now.

Well, they would have supposedly died trying to avenge Ironhide's death, i'd have been down with that since we just see Ironhide rusting to scrap and the other bots who were nearby just seem to disappear.

well, we've only seen the Matrix revive two bots, who both happened to be Primes... ie, they carried the matrix. maybe there's a connection?

i too wish they and jolt had been there, even if to just die.

overall, i thoroughly enjoyed the movie. there's definitely some glaring issues, but it was still a fun ride... i tried to avoid spoilers, but things like Ironhide dying was spoiled early, and something someone told me a week ago made me think something was up with Sentinel, but I didn't see Patrick Dempsey allying himself with the Cons. that was interesting. I wanted to see more of the wreckers, well, wrecking stuff, especially in bot mode, but it also felt like they preferred vehicle mode, so i can see why they just drove and shot at stuff...

The chase with the dreads was freakin awesome! I enjoyed the Autobots a lot, but I still would've loved a bit more action in the first hour. and the Decepticons should've been doing more. someone earlier said they could've gotten rid of the giant snake thing, and i think that's absolutely true. Shockwave, Soundwave and Starscream all could've done a bit more, though I loved Soundwave shooting out sonic blasts from his arms.

the little space ships flying around were cool but, as someone else said, this would've been the perfect spot to have a dozen jets of different colors all using the starscream CG model. and i would've liked 1 or 2 new decepticon models during the final battle. why not use the waste management truck guy from earlier? but oh well.

overall, a very good movie, and lots of fun, especially that last hour or so. i really wanna go see it again today, but i'm super tired from yesterday, so i may wait until this weekend...

In comparison to the other movies i would have to say the transformerless scenes were alot more tolerable. In ROTF i was checkin me watch every 5 minutes cause i was bored! DOTM the movie didn't finish til gone midnight yet i never got tired or bored once, infact when the shockwave got killed i tried to convince myself that he must die halfway through cause the movie had flown by.

Overall, was very happy w/ it.

I had read the novelization in advance (not unusual) but for the first time in a long time, I was sad I had. Movie, overall was better than the book.

Ironhide's end = f*ed up, and I will ignore it.

Final brawling between OP, Meg, SP = awesome. Not sure w/ the change towards closing w/ Megs if I like that or the book ending. Both have pro/cons.

And DotM cements my opinion that "Sentinel Prime" is synonymous w/ d*bag. He's 4 for 4 outings as such, to various degrees (Meg:Origin, TFA, WFC(called Zeta but "Exodus" book = SP), and now DotM.

To the degree that there appear to be 2 constants in the TF universe:
Optimus will die & come back at least once, and Sentinel Prime is a dick.

Went to the 9pm showing last night but was too freakin tired to review this last night.
Overall I really liked the movie. About 47 times better than ROTF.

    Good:
The overall darker tone of the movie
The freeway chase. Just plain incredible. My favorite part of the movie.
Prime's ruthlessness. People may have hated this but I loved it. If he did nothing but show mercy all the time he'd have been dead a long time ago (and not just ROTF dead, REALLY dead)
    The Mexican Standoff
    Leonard Nimoy
    The freeway chase!
    Simmons assistant
    Laserbeak
Starscream vs Sam. This entire scene was great. Starscream taunting Sam was awesome. Not sure why it's such a bad thing when a human kills a Decepticon, when it's done in an awesome way, but whatever.
The scene were Bumblebee was nearly executed.
Rosie did a good job acting. Megan was not missed.
The 3D was very very well done.
    THE FREEWAY CHASE!

    Minor gripes:
It was too long. I think Bay thinks his big movies have to be 2.5 hours long in order to be good, but they could've easily shaved off 20 or 30 minutes.
    The fat Wrecker. Why?
After all the b!tching people did about Dino and Q's names, they weren't really in the movie that much for it to even matter.
Speaking of Dino, he should've had more lines. Loved his voice
The freeway chase was too short (haha)
Sam's parents were funny in the first 2 movies, not so much in this one. Especially their 2nd scene right after the death of Ironhide.

Yeah, that was careless. It's just like the way Transformers: Prime does it. I figured what with the gold SP in the first teaser that they had that right this time, but nope.

It wasn't a well-crafted story by any stretch of the imagination, but the action beats were very entertaining.

The main thing dragging this movie down is still the fact that Michael Bay has the same embarrassingly lame sense of humor that my dad does. But that's not the worst part. The worst part is that he spends SO much goddamn time devoted to his unfunniness. There's a whole subplot involving Sam being forced to betray the autobots by carrying around a watch with hidden surveillance equipment that shocks him every time he tries to warn people about the Decepticons. But it has absolutely no bearing on the larger plot. The only purpose it serves is that Shia now gets to do his unfunny spazz (american usage, not UK usage) routine of knocking things over and making lame excuses every time he's shocked. And it's a crappy slapstick routine that must have taken ten or twenty minutes to set up. There's also a 10-20 minute scene in a Russian bar that adds nothing to the larger plot, but exists so that Turturro can do his unfunny slapstick routine. The stuff with Ken Jeong was painfully, painfully, bad. He's wasted as nothing more than a doomed scientist who Laserbeak murders...and yet the script has him getting into "wacky" hijinks with Sam that serve no purpose other than to make gay jokes and Asian jokes. "Wang" is both an Asian name and slang for male genetailia, get it? Despite being a supposedly humorous sidekick, he's killed in a grisley manner and Michael Bay practically plays you the bonewah so you understand that it's supposed to be funny. A person falls to his death, and it's funny, you see, because he was a nerd. It's official, Michael Bay is that odd kid everyone knew from elementary school who snickered as he smashed frogs with a baseball bat. Some moments in this film were funnier than others, but all of Mcihael Bay's humor seems to come from a mean-spirited, hateful place. It's not stuff that I feel comfortable laughing at. The racism isn't as much of a problem in this movie, but the homophobia and misogyny are still out in full force. However, it didn't totally destroy my enjoyment of the film like Revenge of the Fallen did. I thought it was an exciting film, but not an overly funny film. Alan Tudyk's character was amusing, but I realized that it had much more to do with the acting than the character or the writing.

The only other major flaw in this movie is that Michael Bay's background is in music videos, and it shows. Every time the story transitions to Sam, we get a god-awful music interlude that informs us that we're supposed to give a crap about this soulless shell of a character. Bay's musical cues are so amateurishly manipulative that it's starting to get annoying. I'm talking Armageddon "Don't Want to Miss a Thing" bad, only it happens far more frequently.

But yeah, the action was ok, and the 3D helped because for the first time in a long time, I could tell what was supposed to be going on in a Transformers fight scene.

Im still salty about shockwave being hyped as the main villain. he didnt do jack squat. take out that stupid snake thing and just make shockwave bad ass, while also actually giving him a background, motive, ect.

I actually like this one better than the first two films, as a G1 fan I appreciated how some of the original cartoons story elements were incorporated in to this movie (The Ultimate Doom and Megatron's Masterplan). The movie did have some flaws thou. They could've cut off the opening by about 5 minutes, and cut out a few pieces in the Chicago scene. I think it would've made for a better movie. The IMAX 3D blew me away, maybe the best use of 3D yet and coupled with IMAX, I felt like I got my ass kicked by the time it was over, but in a good way. My rating 8.5/10

If you recall the G1 episode trilogy called Megatron's Master Plan, that's basically what this movie is with the added 'Sam is so in love with Carly that he cannot choose between saving the world and helping the Autobots or betraying and deceiving Prime in order to give Carly a temporary stay of execution from McDreamy.
