Ironhide and Sideswipe would probably kill the 'Cons without a second thought, but this is Optimus freaking Prime we're talking about. Optimus Prime is like Superman - they're good because they feel they have to be; they both grant mercy to their opponents, with or without being asked. The only tiem I recall Prime not giving his opponent mercy was Megatron in the G1 movie, and that was just Megatron up to his usual treachery after their own battle. In DOTM, Megatron had just helped Optimus defeat Sentinel, who also had begged for mercy and was a fellow Autobot. What Bay has done would be like taking Superman and making him go against his personal vow of not taking a life, much like in Superman: at Earth's End.

Prime never made a vow to not take life, though.

You're basing this pacifist stuff on a cartoon from the '80s, where they couldn't really get away with murdering people left and right. It'd screw the toy sales.

Even in the G1 movie, he was a beast.

Movie Prime is pretty much the definition of "talk softly, but carry a big stick."

He's peaceful, but when you put him in a situation where he's got to protect himself or others, he'll do whatever he has to do, even if it means getting his hands very, very dirty.

I can't believe Bay actually thinks some of this is funny.

Malkovich shadow boxing with Bumbleebee and then just disappears from the movie.
Ken Jeong humping Sam in the elevator
    Dutch's ridiculous accent and character
Sam with the weird wrist robot acting like a complete fool
The parents talking about Sam's penis size

If you cut these 5 things from the movie and add more robot characteization, the movie would have been outstanding.

    Those were five small things.

If you can't enjoy the movie because of five - short - comedic interludes, then maybe you're trying too hard not to like it.

I kinda gathered from SP's grabbing of megatrons head wound and putting him in his place is what led to him mopping in the alleyway. Also never really felt like Megatron was 100% most of the movie due to his wound and his lil bugs weren't really fixing much.

Shockwave was the biggest waste of a character. I felt like he came out of NOWHERE. Did Megatron even know he was alive during the film? He was never acknowledged by any Decepticon. He just shows up just like "Oh hey, I'm here with my worm."

No. Movie Prime WAS like that in the first movie, when he openly expressed regret over Megatron's (temporary) death. He abandoned that in the second movie with "GIVE ME YOUR FACE" and slaughtering Decepticons left and right in the sequels.

Also, there's the fact that a different incarnation of Optimus Prime chose to NOT kill his universe's Megatron, even after Megatron taunted him to "finish him off." That's Animated Optimus Prime, the ideal Optimus Prime. And Movie Optimus Prime, who kills Megatron and Sentinel Prime after both beg for mercy, is nothing at all like him.

I didn't like it due to the fact that i had read the book beforehand, and alot of stuff was either not mentioned, or skipped and changed for theatre's.

I also felt that how Megatron was used wasted a lot of potential. He could have been shown as a great study in a proud warrior fallen from the top of the heap, a tyrant having to come to terms with his best days behind him. Instead he mopes around and then gets a pep talk from an underwear model.

How much better would it have been if what sent him into a rage was him asking if Carly had come to beg for his favor, and her simply replying "Who are you?" ?

Also, what was with that African Decepticon camp? Is that supposed to be the staging ground for the entirety of the Decepticon forces? Is Megatron pretty much separated from the rest of them? Megatron is not actually shown leading any Decepticons (that I recall) other than Starscream, the spiderclones, laserbeak and that igor-con. You never really got the feeling the Decepticons were a single cohesive force rather than just a horde to be overcome in stages.

The fact that we knew the "good guys" would win really took away from the "epicness" of the Chicago climax. There's no one that did not know that the Autobots didn't die when the spaceship exploded mid movie and believed that they would not be in the final (anti)climatic battle. In addition, knowing that the bots and Sam would prevail made it hard to suspend one's disbelief. I mean seriously, how is it that over 200 Decepticons who have fortified their place of operations, have a vast numerical and strategic advantage, can all generally fly, and tend to have better or like Tyrese said, cooler weapons be defeated by 9 Autobots and about 50 or less humans? The fact that the Autobots won and no main human charactors even perished was truly inexplicable and was the cause of real "YEAH RIGHT" moments as the movie drew to its conclusion.

O yeah I left this out:

WHAT WAS THE FREAKIN POINT OF EVEN PLACING SHOCKWAVE IN THE MOVIE if he was gonna be a virtual non factor and totally irrelevant? What a waste!

Sorry if any of this has been stated.

Maybe i missed something but I didn't understand how Bumblebee saved Sam from Starscream when his head exploded but in the next scene while everybody was running it's revealed that Bumblebee, Ratchet, Dino and Que had all been taken hostage.

Also, I kinda feel like they should have had some kind of scientific consultant for the film. I don't really understand how you can have a PLANET enter the Earth's atmosphere and not create tremendous havoc due to the effects of gravity.

And this is something that pissed me off about Green Lantern too. When it's revealed that Hal Jordan had superpowers and was invited to join an intergalactic police organization his love interest left him. In here when Bumblebee shows up and Sam has to save the world Carly freaks out and leaves him. Seriously! These women are HARD TO PLEASE!!

I'm kind of surprised you haven't noticed that pattern by now. You could replace Shockwave with nearly any transformer.

Although In saw Ironhide's death coming, it was sad to see how he died.

Was blasted a few times by Sentinel Prime, then started to rust and fall apart.

    Liked the movie overall, but:

    Megatron did jack shit.
    Wreckers did jack shit.
    Shockwave did jack shit.

Honestly, none of them needed to even be in the movie for how much they were utilized.

People keep pointing out, how much they dislike humans being able to hurt Transformers. Think about this logically for a second. If the military sees these guys as a threat, they are going to throw every weapon they have at them. They won't stop until they find one that works. That mean eventually the nukes come out. This would bring it even more human involvement in to the movie, and I know you guys don't want that. By letting the humans have weapons that can hurt the Decepticons, you can actually limit the human element better.

As for the whole Dino issue. Ferarri got to name him as part of the deal for using the car. It was not, as some imply, Bay and company, sitting around looking at a list of Autobot names, then tossing it and pulling Dino out of nowhere.

some explanation why there's no twins, wasnt a fan of them but you know, one or two lines like explanation why there's no Mikaela.

od course i didn't like that Bumblebee killed Soundwave, but this is personal ;)

but overall liked the movie, going to see it again tommorow, maybe see more ;)

ah yeah, Que & Dino are just lame names for Transformers, i'm not saying they should be Wheeljack & Mirage but at least something more "transfomerish", they had a lot of tf names to choose from.
