Thanks for the review Super_Megs! Yeah it allows me to relieve a tiny little bit of my built-up mega-pessimism-disappointment-gut pains where I've been preparing for another botched horribly stupid installment of something (transformers) that I otherwise absolutely like. I am still fairly wary though, Sam's parents don't make me laugh one tiny bit, and characters like Agent Simmons have been so badly done as a grade 8 kid cheezy movie style that I don't know if they can be redeemed for me (notably super megs only says 'less' annoying). And the other big part for me is the characters of the actual transformers, which other than Prime, BB, and Starscream, have almost been entirely irrelevant or absent. You just don't care for or about them. Hopefully this element is improved a bit too and no or minimal reusing of character renders.
When some of you say, "I go to see Summer movies where I don't have to use my brain and just eat popcorn." You sound really dumb. If you don't want to use your brain, I want you to run as fast as you can head first into a wall...sigh.
The Forest Fight was better than anything in the first movie to me. The same cannot be said for the rest of the film.
He's talking about the over-zealous G1 fanboys who claim that critics only hate Michael Bay's Transformers. In truth, critics hate Transformers. Period.
I just stepped out from the cinema not long ago... And YES, TF3 is freakin' amazing! I'm watching it again in a few hours time, and tomorrow. To everyone in the board and TF fans around the world, you'll be amazed!!!
What's we mean is that not all films have to be intellectually stimulating to enjoy them. Honestly Transformers NEVER has been. EVER.
"Too long, too loud, not enough drama/dramatic tension. But the 3D was good." -- The Critics. That about sums up the critical consensus (so far). To be honest, none of that sounds like anything I (or the average summer movie-goer, for that matter) would have a particular problem with. There's certainly nowhere near the same level of vitriol ROTF got in its reviews and the film seems to be tracking fairly well with fans and the general geek crowd, which probably carries a bit more weight for a movie of this type. All in all, I'm still excited for tomorrow afternoon. Since I liked both of the previous movies, despite their respective critical drubbings, I have no doubt I'm going to like this one too.
I really do hope this movie is awesome! But I've been hearing reviews from TransFormer fans and it's the same, half like it half don't...I'll be seeing it tonight, I hope I have a good time.
....yes. Movies are ment to entertain, if i want something smart, i can go back to college and listen to the professor from hours on end.
LOL That's an interesting summery... made me laugh. Agree 100%. True Grit and King's Speech are two of the best films in DECADES, and run laps around ROTF. A witty film, with exceptional dialog, great character building moments, and zero male-on-male dog humping is sure relaxing compared to a Michael Bay film that just makes normal people clench.
Ouch... Just read an excerpt from R. Ebert's review on Metacritic 'A visually ugly film with an incoherent plot, wooden characters and inane dialog. It provided me with one of the more unpleasant experiences I've had at the movies.' I guess for the movie-goer who knows nothing about Transformers nor the characters, this holds true. For fans of Bayformers, however, I expect this to be one awesome experience!
