That other douche who actually hopped into this thread to "claify" (ie, defend himself and be rude/evasive but worded politely so he could pretend he was decent) actually sent me an email (because I commented, he rewrote it, and he had my email since it had to be entered to comment, lesson learned) saying have fun watching X (big spoiler) just to be a bastard and try to ruin the movie for me. That's a petty, childish unprofessional dick there. Luckily I had accidentally read the spoiler before and was way over being bummed I had found out. But still. See you next tuesday move that is. I guess he figures any spoilers involving non humans won't bother the masses since the masses don't seem to remember anyone's name beside OP, Megs and BB, understandable (the people not recalling names, not the spoiler). Decent review otherwise though. I was perplexed by his astonishment that Bay, in this film, was very pro troop and yet anti gov/military brass. He did the same thing in the other movies. In TF1, you had Sector 7 representing a sort of scary Patriot Act style government org with no strings and total autonomy. in ROTF you had Galloway being a dick and all the field troops and their immediate commanders generally annoyed and in no way respecting his "suit" mentality.
A few quick positive reviews for those who think I'm only posting negative ones(these are twitter reactions): Shocker!!! Michael Bay has delivered the first great Transformers movie! Plenty of stuff to pick on, but still massive fun. Even 3D rocks. Trannies 3 is as much a transformation as Aliens from Alien. (Not as good, but...) They finally found a story bigger than the effects. Yay! -----David Poland Transformers 3 is everything I wanted it to be. A must see in 3D.That said, people who couldnt enjoy the first film will probably have problems with this one. Seems a little unlikely that. he deserved to go on the cutting room floor along with the Porn shop lady in TF2007 & the Poor ol' dumbasses Mudflap & Skids (in DOTM) - who didn't just get left out they had to spend money to digitally paint them out in vehicle mode convoys of or re-render some scenes which they'd already put them in (Notice Mudflap is in one of the trailers). ---- I think personally i'd be more likely to rewatch a cluster of other Genre Movie before reaching for the Dark Knight DVD - Also the extra's on the DVD are pretty poor and I find good extra makes me feel better about a movie - a lack of them always makes me suspicious of something fishy but not every movie gives you the sort of thing you get on The Matrix Movies or Hellboy or heck even Aliens Vs Predator has good extras. I guess some of that ends up online now though if it exists. Bay is not always so great at DVD Extras all The island has is one documentary but Armageddon is 'OK' anyway my point is perhaps things like the mood your in when you first see something or what you think of the DVD extras effects how you feel about a movie. I was lucky enough to not see ROTF for some months after everyone else so I'd read all everyone else had said and was expecting constant infantile humour, horrible editing, toilet humour, rascist robots, Leo being terrible, Wheelie being a sex pest, People backsides on show, dog humping, 12 minute military adverts Alice being terrible etc.. so I had my expectations really lowered then when I bought it finally (for £1.00) I was plenty surprised as most of that was huge exaggeration. overall yes I still hate Sam's parents and the Dog humping didn't really need to be in the movie - but when people are all telling you it's 3/10 I was quite happy to see it was more like 6.5/10 - It's way better than Star Trek V for example. But then it only cost me £1.00
I doubt Beaks is going to pan this given he loved all the footage he saw back in December. Then again, he thought "Bring it on" was one of the best movies of the 2000's so it is hard to take him seriously whether he loved or hated this movie.
And since most people watch movie's for the extra dvd/blu ray content content...oh wait...they don't.
The funny thing is the 2 guys - Beaks from AICN and Collider.com guy - both didnt care for the movie but they were both raving about the footage they seen months back. Thats because Bay actually only showed them the great action and hid the lame story. So I've seen TF3. The story was not as good as I thought it would be. Some of it makes zero sense. Some of it you just shake your head at. ----collider.com I hated Dark of the Moon less than Revenge of the Fallen! Decent action, great 3D and almost everything else was just as terrible. ---thefilmstage Several of the reviews coming out tonight say parts of the story make no sense whatsoever. And this is from geek sites who know the stories and lore of transformers.
Because they wanted to fail so it can be rebooted into some godawful CGI only animated movies that no one aside from anime fans will want to see.
I'm just posting reviews as I find them. I can't help it that a majority are negative and even the positive ones are only praising the action and fx. It's pretty unanimous that the story is totally incoherent trash.
If you skip the 1st 80 mins of TRANSFORMERS 3, you'll see a great movie and miss nothing. -----ugomovies
