I have an Astigmatism of my right eye, plus it is slightly lazy. I have to wear corrective glasses all the time, to see, read, drive, etc. With them, I am fine.

The last time I went to a 3D movie was Beowulf, and it was the old fashioned glasses. To me, watching it just seemed like 2D and it gave me a headache trying to focus. I did not see any 3D effects. With all the breakthroughs, and all the raving about the "new" 3D, is it worth the risk to see it in 3D or should I stick with 2D.

Will I have the same problems as last time, or is that a thing of the past?

 

I too have an astigmatism and the blue and red glasses don't work on me much, but these new polarized glasses DO, I saw Nascar 3d (imax) years ago with them and it worked, the new 3dtvs also work so I think it might..

 

I've seen it in Real3D and it was very good.

 

This is going to be the first movie I'll ever see in 3D in theaters. I hope it's awesome!

Astigmatism and near sighted so I have to wear the 3D glasses over my regular glasses. Feels a bit odd on my nose and the first time I saw letters in 3D I almost threw up. Since that first time of feeling sick I haven't felt sick any more watching 3D except for the stuff on Jackass that would make you puke in 2D.

Then again I never had any problems with the old blue and red glasses over my regular glasses so everyone's eye problem could be different.

 

I have a slight astigmatism and have never had the problem. I'd say, ask the manager if you could purchase a ticket for 3d, and if it's bothering you to where you can't enjoy it, if you could downgrade to a 2d, or something.

 

I wear glasses (i'm legally blind) and when I went to see Avator in 3D the effects didn't really pop out to me. It seemed more blurry to me then 3D. Has anyone else had problems like this? I could tell what was going on but it gave it hurt my eyes and gave me a giant migraine. I'm hopeing this doesn't recur this time.

 

doesnt happen to me, but from what i hear its not uncommon for people to feel this way while watching 3D.

 

This kind of thing will vary from person to person. Everyone's eyesight is different.

I have a slight nearsightedness where distant faces and text appears blurry. I wear glasses, which perfects my vision, and I have absolutely no problems seeing 3D. I wear the cinema 3D glasses over my own, and the only slight discomfort I get is from the 3D glasses sliding down from time to time. I saw Avatar and the 3D blew me away. Wish the same could be said about every other 3D film I've seen. Really glad they actually shot DotM in 3D as opposed to post-converting it. That's what's going to make the difference here, and I think since it's made for 3D in the same manner as Avatar, if you can comfortably view the 3D visuals then you really need to see the film in 3D to fully enjoy it.

 

I have eyesight problems as well, and the 3D works perfectly well on me.

Sometimes it's annoying to put the 3D glasses over my normal ones, I'll give you that, but it works perfectly.

 

Avatar was my first 3D film ever, and I remember when all the woodsprites flew past the screen before landing on Jake, I literally almost instinctively reached out to touch them. On the one hand I felt incredibly stupid, on the other I felt astounded that the effect was so real and potent. That's how a 3D film should feel.

While I'm sure Shockwave's fist in my face might not have the same whimsical dream-like effect, it should be quite the experience.

 

Haha, that reminds me of a friend mine: She is worse than Indiana Jones with Snakes, then she went to see AVATAR with me.

The trailers came, and guess what? There was a GIANT FREAKING SNAKE CRAWLING TOWARDS THE PUBLIC in one of them.

She shouted "JESUS CHRIST!" and took off the glasses, turning her face away, she only returned to look to the screen when all trailers passed.
I, being the gentleman I am, spent the whole night mocking her.

The only 3D that made me react like that was one in the trailer for Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland, the one where the Chesire Cat goes out of the screen, DAMN, The cat's head literally stepped out of the screen and crawled towards my face, ending up two half-an-inch from my nose.
DAMN, I even reached out to grab his face.

Now, about DOTM? I'd at the same time LOVE and HATE something like this happening [Optimus Prime firing a shitload of giant bullets on YOUR FACE wouldn't be that pleansent, would it?]

 

I figure there's no escaping 3D, so I might as well. Afterall, having TFs be my first Real3D experience seems like a good place to start.

 

Filmed in 3D vs post converted might make a difference.

The post converted stuff looks like the old View Master. It's like there is the screen, another screen about 5 feet out and then one more about 10 feet out. Nothing jumps right out at me like the old blue and red glasses could.

Filmed in 3D feels like about 10 feet of depth to the screen instead of just screens stacked on top of each other like post converted. Way easier on my eyes.
