Sitting in a theater, bald, full of chemo, barely awake, and then in 2009 , ROTF hit the screen - and then all my ills went away for 2 and a half wonderful hours... wasn't sick, i was home.

Back in 2007, i took a shift early workwise, and then when I got out, i realized the theater down the street from my office was about to open, with Transformers about to show... i was the first one in the theater to have a seat... and then when that big truck transformed, leaned down and went "Are you Sam Witwicky", i nearly cried with happiness... that and Steve Jablonksy's score has been a staple on my mp3 player... I even came to the alter for my wedding to one of his tracks.

I have a picture of myself standing in front of a 2007 movie standee that brings back a flood of wonderful memories. Now with Dark of the Moon almost here, it's full circle, and Mr Bay , sir, as much as I don't want to see you gone, now's the time to thank you and Mr. Spielberg for 5 awesome years of being a Transformers theatergoer.

Wish there was a fourth, but even if not, it's been one hell of a ride :)

I've been with the brand since the beginning of it. And honestly, there's only been one other line of transformers that I have enjoyed as much as the movies. Mr. Michael Bay, I thank you. You have done such a wonderful job bringing these little pieces of plastic to a real life scale, and I have enjoyed every minute of it in some way. I will miss your movies once this last one is done. I hope that if you don't return for more, that who ever had their hands at it next does half the job you have in my eyes.

Thank you Mr. Bay, and his cast and crew for giving me something to really, TRULY be excited for every 2 years in the summer! I have never and probably WILL never experience the sensation I get when I anticipate/watch and re-watch/buy the toys for these movies that you've made.

A side note: my gf, when we first started dating said that she had NO interest in comic book/sci-fi movies. Now she's almost as pumped for DotM as I am! She loves Bee and Optimus and Sam. It's not as crazy as a kid in Sri Lanka, but it says something about how these movies have not just touched the people who have been fans since they were 2 yrs old (me), but also people who never knew they even COULD like Transformers.

    AMEN

I'll give credit where credit is due: Thanks to Michael Bay, Steven Spielberg, Paramount, etc, the Transformers brand basically had a second Renaissance the likes of which no one could have foreseen. Revenge of the Fallen's midnight tickets in my area (Fresno/Clovis, CA, a combined population of over 1 million people) completely sold out at every theater with lines that wrapped around the block. This is for a children's toy line franchise whose heyday was in the 80's yet it has once again become relevant in pop culture to people who are not nerds, toy collectors or kids. Because of all of this, fans like us have seen amazing toys being made due to the extra revenue that these movies have brought it, and in the years to come the children who are fans of the movies now will ensure that the Transformers brand will stay relevant for another generation.

The movies themselves, however, are best forgotten. Let's try not to dwell on their atrociousness for too long and look towards the future: the toy line will continue to expand and improve, and Hasbro will certainly want more movies and those movies will likely NOT be directed by Michael Bay.

Michael Bay, thanks for the extra money, now please leave.

It's true, the trolls really just can't help themselves.

God forbid we have one thread on TFW without snarkiness and sarcasm.

You know, as I sift through the movie threads and see the divided fanbase, angry jeers at the production of these three movies, and other general silliness, I can't help but think how worth it this franchise has truly been.

Back in 2007, I was giddy with excitement over each little piece of news that came our way regarding the first movie. To me, the first live-action Transformers will always be one of my favorite movies of all time, with its pounding, yet beautiful soundtrack, the sense of wonder and secrecy that we had waiting with eager anticipation at our first glimpse of what these guys would look like onscreen. The movie was very well done, mixing conspiracy and action into a thrill ride that made these giant robots look and feel real. Arrival to Earth remains one of my favorite movie sequences of all time.

Revenge of the Fallen was, well... it's easier to say what Revenge of the Fallen wasn't, really. It was long, jam-packed with special effects, had hard to understand and relate-to characters, and it certainly wasn't the first movie. But you know what? I loved it, too. It was adventuresome, with a mystic feel to it that reminded me of some of the older Transformers episode plots. In terms of visuals, it took a step up, featuring clearer shots, more Transformers, and some wowing scenes. It may have more going on with it that's wrong than right, but the things it did do right were awesome. Forest Battle was insane.

And now, Dark of the Moon. It feels like a bittersweet ending to Michael Bay's work on this trilogy- I'm glad to even say that these films were a trilogy. Even after Revenge of the Fallen, the entire group decided to pick itself up and make up for the faults their last film had- and judging by the trailers and what I've read (I'm a spoiler whore), I think that this is a good note to go out on. To think, the last four years have been filled with more interest in Transformers than ever before simply because this man added explosions to them and reinvented their image. We owe a lot to Michael Bay, whether you like his movies or not. He has changed Transformers and changed the way we look at action movies. And Transformers is all about change...

Back in 2007, I walked into a a theater to watch a movie called Transformers. I grew up with both G1 and Beast Wars, and up until 2007, Transformers was just a cartoon. As I walked out of the theater that day, a red semi drove past. I stared at it, just waiting for it to stand up.

Micheal Bay, thank you so much for taking something that was just a cartoon, and making it real. I don't intend to plug my comic, but it is because of you and Transformers that my characters look the way they do. Thank you, Mr Bay. Thank you for 5, close to 6 years in the world of Autobots and Decepticons. I'm truly sad to see you go, but wish you the absolute best on any future projects.

Maybe someone realized my block list was getting dusty...

But back on topic, I'm grateful to Michael Bay for the trilogy of films he's delivered. I didn't like certain aspects of those films, but I don't doubt that he worked hard to deliver the best product that he could, and the franchise is certainly much better for it. Whoever directs Transformers 4 is going to have some big shoes to fill.

While it is ironic that the website that had members posting death treats and expressing their anger and disgust towards Mr. Bay back in 2006 when we first received information regarding the first Transformers film is now having members post letters of appreciation towards his contributions to the franchise, I would only like to say thank you for 5 years worth of anticipation and excitement Mr. Bay. I never really liked Transformers at the time due to the amount of uninteresting franchises at the time such as the Unicron Trilogy. It was your films that got me into the Transformers lore and now, I practically know about every TF franchise, American or Japanese, there is to know about. While it is sad that you have decided to leave the franchise, I understand that you are a busy man. Who knows, we might get a reboot in a couple of years to ease the pain of our loss... of a great and enduring film franchise.

I really love what Michael Bay had done for the franchise. Mucho respect for the guy.
I'm pumped to see this next movie on Tuesday, in 3D! I'll be wearing my Optimus Cine-Mask and my "Optimus Prime says stay in school" shirt. :D

Even though as die-hard "fans", most of us OG Transformers lovers initally wanted everything to just be the same as or fond G1 era memories, but to my suprise, I was totally blown away by the first Transformers movie in 2007 and did not sweat the changes. I really loved the movie. Best of all, because of the success of these films, we get more toys, more cartoons, more Transformers over all. This is not to mention that DOTM looks like it is going to be really awesome and for that, I say, "Thanks MB!" You deserve a little self-appreciation.

Many, Many thanks to Michael Bay and his crew for creating a fantastic trilogy. I've loved every ounce of it, even the stuff that didn't make sense - TFs never made sense, to be honest. ANyone who's watched G1 will tell you that.

Michael We thank you! It's hard to say goodbye, but I'm sure everyone had a great run, what comes after you? we have to wait and see, but either way, the stuff you did with Transformers will stay.
