To me it sounds like he is saying something like "we will prove them wrong" but hard to hear.

Oh, I would so LOVE it if Prime informes Megatron that he will rip off his head and crap down his neck!

Okay, ever since I saw Megatron's shotgun, I just imagined him kneeling down to his Hatchlings saying:

"I used to be like you. A long time ago. All brand new and perfect. No mistakes, no regrets. People look at you and think of how wonderful your future will be. They want you to be something special, like a doctor, or a lawyer. I hate to tell you this, but if you grow up here, you're more likely to wind up selling your bodies on the streets, or shooting Dark Energon from dirty needles in a bus stop. And if you're successful, you'll make money selling energon cubes to crackheads. And don't think twice about killing someone's wife, because you won't even know it's wrong in the first place. Maybe... you'll end up like me. A Decepticon with a shotgun."

By Primus.Prime isn't playing any more, huh? I love how these movies show that Prime has a line you don't want to cross. Where that "human" trait of inherent violence takes over. He didn't need to face-rip The Fallen. He wanted to.

Unlikely, you can't hear an "R" on his last word [nor a "G"], so either he isn't saying that, or he is saying "We will prove them won".

And you can pretty clearly hear a "K" when his speaking, but there are no "K"'s on "We will prove them wrong".

:lolol :lolol  I have no idea why I find that quote so hilarious, but i do.

Seriously though, does any one else thing the Optimus' line 'The day will never come when we forsake... freedom' sounds kinda.. pieced together? Like the tacked freedom on at the end? It does to me.

Hmm you are right. Tried to listen again and I tend to give the poster right who asked if he says "We gonna kill them all."

The line actually looks like THREE different lines put together:

    "The day we'll never come"/"that we forsake"/"FREEDOM!"

But I think is just our ears playing tricks, otherwise where the hell else he would put FREEDOM on it? [Well...maybe while singing Iron Maiden's "FREEDOOOOM!"].

Well IDW's transformers, which can push to the level of pg-13 if not exceed it (ongoing 16 page 1) I cannot imagine that Prime saying "kill them all". It is not a matter of it being said it is a matter of who is saying it.

You are absolutely right, but after the "not today" scene in ROTF I am a litle apprehensive.:)

No it doesn't but, recall what i said about Optimus Prime's position as leader, again my issue is not with the line itself but rather who is saying it.

Agreed. And besides, Peter Cullen IS Prime. I don't think he would do anything that would hurt "his" character. he once denied doing a skit on Robot chicken because he felt it wasn't the character. That it would hurt and disrespect him. The character is also based on his brother. Whom he respects.

Also, remember that this is war. There is sadly a time where words will reach no one but your own side. This enemy is not a diplomatic one.

He always has been that. He's just usually been a lot more...Graceful about it.

I think to most people, Optimus is more the type to say something like: "We must put an end to this war, no mater the cost."

Not: "We'r kill em all! Fuck their skullks with your guns!"
    (Yes, I'm exaggerating.)

I don't think Mr. Cullen has the final say in what lines are ultimately used in the films. As for the point of it being war he is a representative of his entire race not just a soldier so all eyes would constantly be on him.

    Could not agree more:)

I like that scene though, "The Fallen shall rise again!", "Not today." *boom*

Face it, that's a typical Optimus dialogue [I.e he always gives a logical answer to even the most non-sensical threats from the Decepticons].

That attitude fits with Prime, the bit that makes people weirded out is that he murdered Demoslihor right after that line, had Prime just injured him [like in G1 and most of the universes], people would be okay with it, it's not the line, it's the fact Optimus killed him right after.

    Agreed.

Besides, I honestly CAN'T see the "kill them all" being uttered in a casual context, even the brutal Movie-Optimus NEVER incited violence through his words like that.

And where the hell would that line fit in?

    "Optimus, Decepticons have arrived!"
    "We will kill them all."?

"Ironhide, WE WILL KILL THEM ALL"?

"Autobots, WE WILL KILL THEM ALL!" ?

All of those look unnatural to me [even more to Optimus, a guy that tends to speak only the absolutely necessary], I really thinks Ethran Krueguer would need a LOT of creativity to shove this line in a moment that ISN'T lost and hopeless, this isn't like a "random badass catchphrase" that you can fit in every context, you don't say "We will kill them all" midway through your normal speech, that NEEDS a good context.

That line is obviously an answer to someone's question [otherwise I doubt he would put emphasis in saying "We"].

Oh completely, it's what happens afterwords that's the issue, you can imagine Ratchet turning and going "great line optimus i...what the he'll are you.... Wow! That was excessive, ok if anyone asks Demolisher had that hole in his head when we got here":D

To be fair with Optimus, though, I don't think they had a way to arrest Demolishor and even if they had, it would be suicidal to "arrest" that bloody thing.

Besides, he was pretty much a steaming pile of metal with a talking head by that point of the fight.

I honestly just want Prime to start quoting Robocop. Some of them work perfectly.

Demolishor: "The Fallen shall rise again!"

    -shoots Demolishor in the face-

    Prime: "YOUR MOVE, CREEP"

Turning the Wreckers into Redneckbots, using the word "freedom" as a vague and cheap buzzword to grab attention, and the leader of the film's heroes declaring a merciless bloodbath on anyone who's not "with them?"

Man, if I had an "inner Republican," it'd have such a boner right now.
