    Fair enough.

I'm just reminded of the time that someone (whose name escapes me; I hate myself for this) figured out Rumble's height based on the 3mm clip holders.

With all the people who post here with connections to these companies you'd think someone could just email them and ask them to stick a ruler next to the bot and take a camera phone shot.

Alright. So I took the time to do a little quick math here. I encourage people to doublecheck my analysis and results.

The red circle there is what I estimated the 5mm peg to be - it's 37 pixels high in the image.

The red line is what I estimated as the height - that came out to 945px.

Since we know that 37 pixels are 5mm, we can extrapolate and get a height of about 13.5 cm. That's probably fairly close to the actual height plus/minus 1cm, I'd argue.

That gives me a height of 5.3 inches on Exgraver. So basically, he's a respectable height. People tend to forget, I should note, that "between deluxe/voyager" refers to MASS, NOT to height Keep in mind that he has a HUGE chunk of mass on his back in the form of the shovel, so yes, he IS "between deluxe and voyager".

Is it just me, or does that head look like it would fit on a Defensor better than a Devastator?

Problem here is that you used a picture at an angle, meaning the 5mm peg hole you used is smaller in scale than the rest of him. So, using the measurements of that peg hole and basing it from the front most foot to the head skews it and makes the measurement come out to be bigger than it really is.

The only way to really do it right is if there's a picture of him perfectly front facing with his arm extended straight down, peghole out.

    I think that's a good approximation.

Which is why I gave a qualifier. I think about 5" is still probably about right for this guy - he'll be deluxe sized heightwise, masswise between a Deluxe and Voyager.

    Let's try mine again:

I chose to do this for 2 pics of Herc this time. The 2nd pic (on left, & marked) wound up requireing NO resizing for the comparison.

It looks like Herc stands around 15" (everything is coming out OVER a foot no matter what), depending on what part Structor actually needs to be used for measuring height, which is w/in the estimates. Either this is an enlarged prototype, or they decided to make him bigger than the 12".

Step by step for measuring Herc the 2nd time:
    1. Open pics in GIMP as layers, resize boundries to show everything & fill in background black, so it's easier to look at everything.
    2. Name all layers
    3. Make seperate layer for the 4" line.
    4. Draw line IN limb, not off to side
    5. Clone 4" line, rotate & compare to Heavy Labor
      • Select Heavy Labor's layer/ pic w/ Rectangular Selection tool
      • Do a "Copy Visible", which copies Heavy Layer & the 4" line layers as a single imagle
      • Paste the newly copied image
      • Delete the background, for easier comparison for resizing
      • Duplicate for comparisons to both Hercs.
        • the Herc on the left requires absolutely NO resizing, Heavy Labor is already the right size!
    6. Resized the 2nd duplicate, using the crotch plate, "belt", etc for reference
      • specifically, the Blue & Yellow lines
    7. Used Color Select Tool to make a new size line at the reduced size
    8. Duplicated line layers for each pic, & starting w/ Heavy Labor, stack lines.
    9. Result, both look to be about 15" tall
    • Duplicate 2 sets of additional lines, for Exgraver
    • Move & Rotate lines to line up w/ Exgraver

Results, Hercules looks 15" & Exgraver 8" in arm mode.

I guess I'll post this in the What Size thread too...

The problem with your analysis is that the reference Energon limb are not parallel to the photo. Because of the perspective, they appear shorter than they actually are.

Ok, here is my very quick take on the size estimates going around.

First, it is 100% not possible for 1 great reason. NO company out there would claim the toy would be 12" when it is really 15-16"

Don't get me wrong, at 12" with the bulk size of his limbs, he will look awesome in anyones classics collection. He is not worth $600+ but I will more then likely still get him.

Also, If I invest in this guy and TFC does not make all 6, I WILL KILL SOMEONE.

    Crying Children are Crying.

Don't like the size, don't buy it.

I, since the inception of the 3D model wanted Not-Devestator. sure, it may be pricey but that's the way it is when your making custom toys for a wide audience. They got to make some money so they can make more toys right?

After all it's not about making "you" happy it's about making a profit.

Just like Hasbro except with better quality. :p

You are all wrong. Hercules size fluctuates due to tesseract technology that lets him change his size and mass. He's really 8 inches and 43 miles tall at the same time. I'm dealing with fucking lightweights here. :p

I appreciate all of the sizing to get a better idea of size, thanks Keith Prime. =) It still cracks me up even after everything we've seen how indecisive people are. We've known from the get go that these were to be between voyager and deluxe sized, whether it be height or sheer bulk. I saw a pic a while back that had one next to Voyager Grapple and was close in size, and they were interacting. I can't find that picture. The attached picture gives you a good sense of scale for their vehicle modes.

For me it's a good enough scale to go good with FP Bruticus and FP Superion.

    - Coloring is right to my expectations
    - Construction quality looks to be solid
    - Transformations are close to originals which I like
    - Each one retains the spirit of each classic character, which I really appreciate
    - Most of all, I'm thankful for these talented people in these groups (also HasTak) for making such bad ass stuff! =)

Wow, gotta say I was only expecting this guy to be a deluxe or just above deluxe size. It's awesome to see that the $100 price tag is well worth it. Can't wait to see TFC's Devastator in full paint.

Anybody else concerned that there's still no sign whatsoever of the remaining bots in protoype or any other form?

I think it's safe to say EVERYONE is. Until we see prototypes, there's always the worst-case-senario that something causes them to never be made/ released (be that them going bankrupt due to miscalculations/ MakeToy, Hasbro shutting them down, etc.).

However, assuming they are made, & look as good as what we've seen so far, it will be one awesome stand-in for Devastator.

I see what you did there.
Still, do we really buy crazy expensive things like this without thinking along the way "oh man, what a great homage to [blank]" and getting just a little excited about having this great thing that wasn't realized elsewhere?
And then imagine that after all that excitement and build up, it was never fully completed or lacked a crucial element of what makes it what you always hoped it would be.
What about that autobot roller thing that came out some time ago for people who couldnt bear to have an MP prime that didn't have a Roller?

To those who bought it, Prime just didn't seem complete without it, right?

And Devy just wouldn't seem complete without all his arms and legs.
So while he may be a piece of plastic, and in fact does NOT care, I think his not carin' ass wouldn't look right wiithout the ability to stand up and to crush his enemies with BOTH hands.
And because I am not plastic and I DO care, that IS for his not-caring plastic sake.
    :p
