I used a Reveal the Shield Rodimus as base but I retooled him a little, to make him more interesting and unique. First of all, I never liked the head sculpt, since it looks nothing like the cartoon version, so I resculpted it, and gave him his signature helmet look. I also added removable arm exhaust stacks/blasters. He now has 3 stacks on each arm, just the way it should've been in the first place! : ) Finally, I added a new wrist mounted saw for his left arm, which can be attached to the orginal (very tiny) one. The rest is my usual cartoon style, following the cartoon color scheme as close as the mold allowed, with cell shaded windshields in car mode, for a very retro look.
got to know, complete scratch build on the head and saw or did you get a starting point from somewere?
holy crap! I thought the original was nice, until I saw this. You have outdone yourself on this 1. As a rabid collector of all things hot rod/rodimus ( I have 36 variations of the guy at quick count) I officially hate you (in a good way) for making me want to pay loads of money for this auction.
fantastic workmanship all-around! Really love the new saw blade but that new head sculpt....EXCELLENT!! Sooooo many millions of times better than the original! ( never much liked the original head either) And the paint job...looks like he jumped right outta the '86 movie!!
FrogDNA, I'm a massive fan of your style of customising & Hot Rod would have to be right up there with your past creations. The flamed one never looked better! Now, howz'about a Targetmaster...
awesome. want. you made me remember i have two these lying around somewhere. i think its the same head. he chopped off the chin, shaved off the sides and then shaved off the yellow horn like things on the forehead. its pretty ingenious that he saw it.
awesome paint job...at first i thought it was a drawing being the car was the first picture i clicked on..totally thought it was from the cartoon..impressive
