I agree with you Useless, It really not a big deal, just one of those things. And if Hasbro started the transformers with the thought that they have monogamous, human style relationships between the robot sexes, it should have been more evident from the beginning, not thrown in for the hell of it.

Futurama was a great show, it is really too bad it gat cancelled.

I'd get worked up too if I found my favorite TF was from Providence, RI.

Crap. Megamoonman, we're out of popcorn and it's just revving up. Would you go to the lobby and grab some junior mints or something?

I've got nothing against Downshift being a family 'bot. Besides, he's far from the first. You know Dezaras and Leozak, from TF Victory? Their wives show up in a manga. Yep, the grand masters of destruction, terrible slayers of the innocent, and general scourges of the universe, are also honest, family guys.

Plus, in Masterforce, the almighty Overlord's Godmasters (Powermasters to you and me) were a husband and wife team. They even viewed the Destron Headmaster Jrs as a sort of family.

Personally, I like it. It adds character, it adds motivation as well. Downshift has a mission on Earth, he is there to find one that is dear to him.

Now if only his life-partner was a repaint of crumplezone on pink and white, that would be the icing on the cake.

seriously, it's kind of refreshing in a way, doesn't both me one bit. Now if they try and pass of Cybertron Soundwave as a single parent who joined the cons in hopes of finding a home for his younger brother noisemaze and child laserbeak, well then I think I'll be taking the short drive to hasbro HQ.

I'm with you all the way on that one. It helps to add a special something to the character. Especially since he doesn't appear in the actual series. Yeah, sure... we know that his bio on his card says that he's matured under the tutalage of Hot Shot and all, but what's he doing on Earth? Obviously he's not hanging out with the other Autobots trying to find the Cyber Planet Keys... so where is he? He's looking for his "lifebond partner". Sounds good to me...

Every TF series has had the femmebot relationship to some extent... Elita-1 & Prime, Tigatron & Airazor... I could go on and on and on, but I don't have that kind of time...

Thanks for opinion in this thread. You have really added a lot to this conversation from a top your soapbox. I can clearly see that you could give a crap about this and are more intent on spouting bulls**t remarks from a distance. If you have an opinion on this great, lets hear it. I would rather discuss this vs. some minuscule movie rumor that may or may not be true.

Yep. I remember the scans. Honestly I don't see anything wrong with a bot having a family. :)

Sorry, it was not in-conjunction with anything you said, just a general statement about most thread topics.

Does it make you feel good to bash the thread? It sparked conversation and activity on the forum didn't it. Just because you didn't feel it worthwhile, doesn't mean that others share the same sediment. What were you expecting in this forum? Intelligent conversations about meaningful life altering experiences. This is a fan boys whine-feast about children’s toys and if I can debate some insignificant thing such as Downshifts Extra Bio, I will do it. As for my unwillingness to back down, well lets chalk that up to being bored at work.

As for this thread, I felt the need to defend my self form being misquoted, kind of like if someone were to say that Nefud hated Beast Machines because he has a degree in English lit and hates the dialogue, so the series sucks. Oh wait, you did say that.

Ok I admit it, I have put way too much into this. I don't really care too much about it, I just find it enjoyable for me to argue a point, but most of the time I just end up looking like an ass. My original point was that I though the bio was weird for a boys action figure. I was surprised at the amount of static I got for it. Its weird, something like a free Unicron head coming with Primus can send the fandom into a rage, but I make a point about a unusual bio, and nothing.

    BTW
    Nice edit...

Interesting; I had no knowledge as to this since I don't own the toy yet and don't bother using the cyber planet key codes on the website anyway.

I find it curious that there are people who would get so bent out of shape over one little thing... So relatinoships between alien robots from planet Cybertron isn't SUPPOSED to be ALLOWED in the Transformers because why exactly? That they're ALIEN robots? That it's predominantly a BOYS TOYLINE and that shouldn't have no place in it?

It has long been established that the Transformers are Alien robots with feelings, they have souls in essence; ok so maybe that wasn't clearly defined back in the heyday of G1, but what the slag spotted heck is wrong with it? HUMANS WROTE THE BACKSTORY; HUMANIZING CHARACTERS IS WHAT WRITERS/CREATIVE OR OTHERWISE HAVE AlWAYS DONE... The Brave Little Toaster comes to mind.

You're free to your opinion Darth Megatron, but I for one find it most refreshing that there's a Transformer character out there who's expanded upon the society of TFs a little more... And it's not just Humanizing them; ignoring the fact that they're only pieces of plastic and going into the character side of things, any species manufactured or otherwise, which possesses a soul must undoubtly have the same basic desire for companionship... It's a basic fact of sentient life as complex as humans that such a base desire exists and is founded upon; the same must hold true to any species fictional or otherwise that possesses the self-same lifestyles/etcetera that we humans do. Totally alien speices I can't comment on because who knows... And I'm taking things a tad too far perhaps, but in my personal opinion I like the relationship angle about TFs; maybe it's my hopelessly romantic nature, but I find it a nice part of the fiction and use it as I see fit.

And just because it's a boys toyline doesn't mean it has to conform to some stupid laws established since God knows whenever the boys and girls toylines first got started... Who the hell said all boys toylines had to be just about action, tough guys beating the crap out of the villains and all that stuff? If you ask me a more uniformed approach to the toylines of tomorrow might help with the children of tomorrow more then what we grew up on; things have to change if you ask me because seriously there's a lot of shi**y toylines being cooked up... And what was my point again? Damn I think I just went into rant mode and forgot myself; it's only TOYS after all... Oh no, now I've got memories of that movie stuck in my head. :lol

I'm glad Downshift's bio on the package didn't include the life partner stuff. I know if I was 8, and Wheeljack had that on his tech specs, I would have bought someone else.

Regarding the gender politics, toy companies do what kids like. Boys overwhelmingly say they prefer action-based toys, Hasbro's just trying to make toys that will sell.

In all quasi-semi-seriousness...who the hell here wanted Skids as a kid? Theoretician?! Yeah, that sounds like fun. Friggin' nerdbot.

As for the larger topic...I find the discussion/argument itself mildly entertaining, as I don't give a flying burrito brother about the current fiction anyway, let alone obscure online content about a toy/character that's not even on the show...or so I gather.
