Yeah, but since that's not "official", it's never been "officially" finished.

I liked Alignment, but I'm just saying...

Author intent. "Officiality" or lack thereof is irrelevant. It's what he would have done if it went on for more than 12 issues.

Honestly, I don't think the time-jump would've happened. It came across as "If I could go back and finish, knowing what I know now, this is how I would've done it."

As far as intent, tell that to a certain Klingon...

Another 80s kid here voting for Animated. Season 4 sounds like it's going to be awesome.

And yet another 80's kid voting animated. I would love both, but if I had to pick, Marvel G1 doesnt stand a chance.

Seeing as I've never read any of the Marvel comics as I wasn't alive at the time, continuing Animated is my choice by default. Not that there's a few bajillion questions I want answered of course, I'm just not interested in continuing something I've never read. I just hope that the continuation is in a format that I can read more than just the TFWiki's summaries (this means I don't have the cash to be a Collector's Club member).

It doesn't really matter much. The way Animated was going it would have soon been just G1 with stylized designs anyway.

As the person that started the petition in question, I'd say Animated :)

Animated for sure. I'm still pissed Animated didn't get a fourth season, but TF Prime is sorta filling the void. That said, Animated needs it's fourth season in some format, it just does.

The best thing about an isue 81 is it would give Simon Furman a place to write his yarns, IDW didn't seem capable of letting him tell his own stories but with this they'd hopefully leave him alone.

An Animated continuation is more worthy in my eyes. Another 32 year old who grew up with G1, loves G1 but also loved Animated. G1 has had 27 years of story-telling and will always continue in some form of fiction, Animated was seriously truncated and had loads left to do and say.

    Animated by far.

G1 fiction needs to retire. Seriously. Just do some more comics on Animated or Prime or something. The more they drag out Generation 1 with comics and bullshit, the less meaningful and more "washed out" it feels as a whole.

Grew up with and loved Marvel G1; feel that it's run its stellar course and come to a satisfactory conclusion. Any continuation, while nice, isn't truly necessary.

Animated, on the other hand, feels like a child sparkling with potential that got murdered in its cradle. Bring it back to life and see it grow into something on a par with its predecessor in terms of sheer epicness, please.

You could've saved some keystrokes by just typing "GEEWUN!!!!!11"

I've been with TFs since day one, and I would choose Animated in a hummingbird's heartbeat.

People like you are the reason the whole 'Geewun' namecalling still exists. Alot of people LOVE G1, me included, but don't be a moron acting like anything else is inferior or 'not worthy'. Please grow up.

Anyway, I'm not sure what I'd pick. I didn't read alot of Marvel G1 comics, so a continuation of that would be lost on me. On the other hand, I love Animated, but seeing the state Transformers comics at IDW are currently in, I think I'd rather not see them pick it up, unless people like Marty & Derrick get full creative control.

In the last twenty years, we've had three separate spin-off stories or series that continue on from Marvel #81. I really don't feel like we need a fourth. Animated all the way.

Animated all the way. Lots of unanswered questions for a comic book to explore and getting those answers would be a really good reason to plop down the cost of a comic book these days. Still lots of room left to introduce those characters that are both a nod to the past and something new at the same time so I'd love to see the Animated take on even more characters.

While I loved the Marvel run on G1 by the end it seemed like they were kind of grasping at straws for story ideas so I don't feel the need to read about some of characters that were still sticking around at the end. It's kind of like a good book series at some point you need an ending and let the books just stay as a classic. I'd rather that the G1 just stay where they are instead of digging those old story arches up when it's just not the 80's any more and Transformers has moved on to other things.

Nostalgia is great for toys but not so great for stories. Some story nods are nice and design nods are nice, but I don't think 80's comic book is going to cut it for me.
