I really liked the originals. I even liked the Tim Burton one. This one... I dunno... the previews make it seem more like a zombie movie with apes.

    2. Watch the special features. They explain that the event they traveled through is a temporal anomaly. Things come out the other side in the opposite order they go in. The later you go in on one side, the earlier you come out. It's why the first monkey to go in was the last to arrive. It's also how the ship he left was there all those hundreds of years. The ship came through last, so it got there first. The idea with the ape planet is that Marky Mark went through first, and the monkey dug out the other pod from the lake and went through after him. This would cause him to arrive before Marky Mark. Since he went through so much later, he arrived a lot earlier. So early in fact, he somehow managed to cause Earth to be changed to an ape planet. One thing this movie did different from the original is that the planet they were on for most of the movie actually was a different planet, and not Earth.

All I can think when I see the previews is:

    'They're giving away the secret!'

WETA's CGI looks amazing and the eyes with facial capture on the chimps look realistic enough, Andy Serkis was born to play an ape.

I just saw an add for this movie today while watching TV. I really like it and I think it's a cool idea. My only gripe about it is, it seems to be too much CGI. I wish they could make it look more like the originals were. Those were awesome movies and I'd like to get the entire series.

Ever read the Quintaglio Ascension Trilogy by Robert J Sawyer? That's a very similar idea: the story is about a race of sapient T-Rexes, who evolved from dinosaurs taken from Earth and repopulated on another planet before they went extinct. The Quintaglios are intelligent and highly evolved, but are still true to their inborn Tyrannosaur nature. It's a neat series.

I just got back from seeing it. Great movie. It's definitely my 2nd favorite movie of the year behind Captain American. Sorry X-Men:First Class, you are down to 3rd.

Enjoyed it a lot. I liked how it had to do with everyone else besides the apes.

I thought it was easily one of the best films of the year and a complete surprise. This franchise has a lot of potential now.
