Aren't the CD knock off pieces different than the pieces made for the original?
I'm pretty sure I remember them selling sets for the original Dev and the knock off. Can someone confirm or correct this for me?

These are the exact reasons I am going to purchase one. I've sold plenty of 20+ yr old toys and purchased the reissue, b/c I want a toy that is nice and minty. And a minty box just adds to it even more. It's a win-win.

 

My Constructicons are my originals I collected one-at-a-time in childhood. No way I'm letting go of those. But the reissue boxset is a welcome addition. And if they do yellow or orange with G2 symbols, so much the better. Nostalgia aside I like the yellow deco the best.

BBTS has it for 119.00? I guess I was wrong about the markup.

 

Reissues don't require the original molds. Even the very first reissue, of Convoy, used the more recent G2 toolings for plastic parts and had all the tools for the die-cast parts completely recreated from one of the original toys, as those tools were damaged beyond repair.

They are technically official photos. Just not photos of the actual product. The pictures they have are the same as what we all received, and like most reissues, are older pics of older toys meant to represent the final product when soliciting orders. However, given this is being sold in a set, and the history of Encore packaging so far, it will no doubt be very, very close to the pictured original gift set used as a stand-in.

Since it looks like we are getting some figures previously consider long-shots, I'm really hoping to see Mirage, Sunstreaker and Wheeljack reissued. At the very least, I'd be happy with a Mirage reissue that's tweaked a bit to fix the waist fragility of the original.

 

Yep, the takara book styles are cool, just not retro g1 style cool. At least for most of the people who grew up in the 80s. The old retro boxes are just like buying them way back from the 80s. What a great feeling seeing the same old style boxes. Just brings back so much memories.

Pre-ordered on tfsource. November can't hurry up already! First Dev set for me, lost molds huh? I was tempted to buy a KO set, screw that! Encore all the way. Hope there's die-cast on this set.

 

There'll be as much diecast as there was on the originals.

Which isn't much.

Bonecrusher and Scavenger's hip bars, Scavenger's stomach (shoulder connector for combined mode), A sliding hinge inside Hook, and the small tab that he connects to Bonecrusher with.

That's it.

 

And I'm certain it will last as long in the package as it did when I was 9.
