There's some funky photoshoppery going on with Shia's left hand. I don't think the top of his index finger should look like that. Either that, or there's just some really weird lighting on it.

Well he did have a car wrapped around it, and it's probably made out of pieces of his ass.

Well, in the real world, not everyone who uses a chair is incapable of standing. Some people use them some of the time (because they're capable of things like walking short distances, but not of doing so for long periods of time.)

But yeah, in a movie like this I'd guess he's probably in it as the result of an injury. In the standing shots he doesn't look fatigued or contorted or in pain or anything and he's not using a cane or other device, so I'd say the standing images are before an injury (that could either be temporary or permanent) and the wheeling ones are after.

 

I can put my finger in that position, it's not that hard.

 

It's not so much the position as it is the base of his finger near the wrist looks airbrushed. The only reason I could see them doing that is if there was something in the shot they didn't want shown yet, but I can't see them doing that.

Maybe it's just the light.

 

Ahem...

 

I just checked His Wikipedia article. I didn't realize his injuries were so extensive. Ouch.
