You have to pay immediately if you PO with paypal. People who choose "pay later" can only do so by CC. Yes, there's many ways to take steps to avoid something like this from happening, but when using a credit/debit card is the easiest way for a majority of people to make a simple toy purchase, there shouldn't have to be a high risk chance of getting your card compromised. If that's the case, why even bother accepting CC orders?

but if you put in a bogus CC, you can preorder without paying now and then they'll email you later that the CC has issues and pay by Paypal at that point in time. No?

I'm sure a high majority of people aren't even aware of this "trick" and people's cards were getting compromised from purchases made and their real cards info being kept on file. I haven't seen one person mention they got their card compromised from a PO and having never bought from TFSource

Its not even about being aware of it. If I had thought about it, I would have probably come up with that.... but I dont go into online stores thinking about how to disadvantage the store. We shouldnt have to take these additional steps in the first place.

I hate to give TFSource anymore of my business, but I really want that black and white WST Astrotrain. Do any other stores carry the WST line?

This is all i could find:

Toy Arena - Toy Collectibles Store!

    Never dealt with them.

I think TFSOURCE has some kind of semi-exclusive agreement in place with Justitoys (makers of the WST line), hence why they have so many different colored WST figures and they always seem to get them in first.

I don't know if this has been talked about but I also found out that TF Source also sells TF's through Sears website.

My Bank of America was robbed/hacked into yesterday.
About $2000 in random fraudulent charges. All online purchases. Luckily, I have protection against these, but the process is already a headache (filing new claims, waiting, etc)

I rarely use this card online. No PS3 account.

More and more people keep coming forward, and still no word from TFSource. Tomorrow will mark June 4th, a full month from May 4th when Soundwave2 first noticed charges on his account, notified them, and bumped this thread. More people have come forward on the threads on TFormers and Seibertron, too. I've been warned by the administrators of each of these sites not to talk about or threaten the status quo, so my involvement in this is more or less at an end.

I urge the TF fan community to at least attempt to hold TFSource responsible for their (repeated) mistakes/misdeeds. At this point, the only way we can hope to make a difference is to cut into their financial bottom line by shopping elsewhere. It'll take a major word-of-mouth push to make up for the positive portrayal of TFSource given off by the enormous advertising presence on the community sites, but maybe we can keep at least a few people from making the same mistake those of us who have been burned this latest go-round have made.

This is what I get for not wandering into GD for a couple weeks. My card got autocancelled after suspicious iTunes charges 2 weeks ago. No other charges went through. I kinda thought it was the PSN thing, and shrugged it off. Now I'm reading this and had no idea this was going with everyone else. (And if I hadn't come in here, I probably would have never known where the breach happened)

Similar to the Sony situation, I can't blame them for the actions of "hackers". They found a flaw in the security and exploited it, that's the world we live in nowadays. What is unacceptable is that this happened TWICE. Also unacceptable, the lack of notification. If I hadn't checked this board, I would have had no idea.

You know what they say...Fool me once, blah blah blah. I'm done with TFSource.

I cant believe the lack of notice from tfsource. SHAME ON THEM.

Sorry you guys were hit. Anyone who has bought from tfsource before the hack should automatically cancel their cards. I wouldnt wait til the charges hit because even if it is caught it can end up being a major headache.

Anyone at Botcon go up to their booth and asked them what the hell is going on? It would seem a lot of disgruntled fans will be reigning down on them.

TFSource has something I want to order, but I'm too scared to take the chance.

I've checked with the others and they are sold out.

They were selling the Classics Optimus G3 trailer on their ebay account for a pretty decent deal so I figured I'd be safe using paypal with them. They also have a 3rd party accessory I really want (but can't find anywhere else) but I'm debating whether or not I want to do business with them again if I can help it. I'm only going to use paypal if I do but I really want to limit (or eliminate if possible) my business with them.

Back to the topic at hand...

I received a letter while at BotCon from the fraud department at my credit card company requesting additional details about the compromised card. I will be providing my suspicion that it may have been TFSource and/or Authorize.net and a link to this thread to assist them in their investigation. Correlation does not imply causation, so I recommend that others do the same if requested and then leave the determination of culpability here to the professionals.
