Long before the head was shown there was a very lively thread that derailed and was taken over about talk about PP-05.

What's with your anger about the hype anyway?

Do you get pissed off when people start hyping movies that are due out in a years time that haven't started shooting yet??? One pic of Batman 3 surfaced and the internet started buzzing...did you shit on all those people too?

This is advertising man, and it's not even being done by iGear just a people who know the awesomeness that PP05 will be and those that have faith that iGear has seen the err of their ways.

It's not impossible. The Legends class Megatron looks amazing. I'm sure with a little (or a lot) thought they can come up with something similar for a larger figure..

You can make the legs thicker. You can do a much better job with the pull out leg panel. Instead of having it connected to the leg by a few points make the piece completely solid. You can also work it that two pull out panels are attached to the middle part of the leg (think the chin).

It can be done but there is no simpel answer to it. Then again this is the MP line, simple shouldn't factor into the equation.

I agree :thumbs2:  Before or later we'll have the definitive Megatron, I'm sure about it :2c:  It's exactly for this that I don't wait for the horror monarch...

I hate hype of all kinds. This is probably derived from my hate of marketing and advertising of all sorts.

No, because I do not spend my time on internet forums devoted to films. If I did, I'd sure as hell want to hear facts about those movies, not hype.

Error of their ways? What? How does creating an entire new line of toys that copy the designs of another company constitute "seeing the error of their ways?"

I like 3rd party products that complement official releases (e.g. Kup head kit, Headrobots stuff). I enjoy third party products that display originality (e.g. everything made by Fansproject). I like it when 3rd parties create items that HasTak are unwilling to do (again, Fansproject). But I tend to get pissed off when 3rd party companies push the line so much by competing with actual HasTak products that it becomes inevitable that HasTak will come down on ALL third party companies because of the plagiarism and arrogance shown by one particular company.

And on the earlier stuff from igear, I totally agree with you. These 4 new figures, however, are much more akin to Fansproject's Warbot, Munitioner, Explorer, Warcry, Flameblast, and the upcoming "Insecticons" than the earlier copies of MP figures. They're entirely new, original design full figures that will fit in with your existing collection, not simply modified copies of figures already out. I haven't seen any pictures of the pp-05 next to Classics prime, but he seems to be deluxe-ish scale based on other visual clues.

BTW, iGear posted on Facebook to state the PP-05 was 19 cm or 7.5" tall. Classics Prime is about 16.5 cm tall, so that means this Ironhide is about an inch taller than him. Thus, it has no place in my collection.

Ok so your issue is more along the lines of how far shuold a 3rd party go. It has been discussed to death and I know both sides and although I see no boundaries (lets face it how many G1 knock offs are out there) I get why others really want them in place.

From what we know PP will be refering to a scale and all PP's should be in scale with one another. I can see where you are coming from about being direct competition but now we fall back into the grey areas of 3rd party items.

This line will look like nothing we have seen. From my understanding we are getting modernized G1 characters. NOT Classics updated characters but characters that resemble their G1 show counterparts in both vehicle and bot mode.

This will compete with HasTakTo in a sense that they are giving fans some hardcore figures that are VERY G1 and VERY TODAY. Hasbro had a chance with Alternators to give us Ironhide and Ratchet. They also seem to have dropped the ball with their Classicverse versions (I personally like them).

Love it or leave it, at the end it is YUOR wallet that will decide. Me? I'm all up for another line of modernized G1 that looks and feels like G1 and not Neo-G1 (Classics styling)

Hmm, I'm trying to think of some other toys around that same height. Universe Silverbolt and Onslaught?

    That's about it.

If it wasn't a straight G1 update, it'd work with the Alternators. But this way... it can only work with other PP products. And I have no intention of starting an entire new collection of PP-sized figures.

Oh, that's disappointing. It *looks* amazing, but I'm happy enough with the universe release for my classics shelf if this is going to be that much larger. Now, if they wanted to give us a set of Dinobots in that scale...

Dinobots in that scale would have the potential to be pretty much PERFECT. Hell, upscale and add articulation and tampographs to the G1 molds and you're pretty much good to go!

Since I very much doubt Hasbro will do the Dinobots any time soon, I agree.

So Dinobots are ok but Ironhide and Ratchet are not? And how can you say Hasbro won't make them? Classics isn't dead and each time the line is relaunched thay have to put in some gems. How boring would the line be if every super popular character was made first and then followed by second stringers?

I've always specualted that these guys would not fit in with Classics, so replacing Classics Ironhide and Ratchet was never an option for me. What I was hoping was that they would fit in with Alternators, another hope that has been dashed by insiders.

After having time to take in all the hints and clues and out right information, I am open to having a whole new line of G1. I like larger figures and I will always like the G1 designs. To have a new Ironhide and Ratchet toy in there exact (or very close to it) Alt mode and a robot mode WITH a head is something I am eager to add to my collection.

I said it before, I can not wait until the reveal to start my "how many people flip flopped" thread about these guys.

Transbot, I think he mean that dinobot is suppose to be around that size for classics (7.5 in)

How about this: Hasbro makes toys for kids. Robotic dinosaurs are obviously not all that popular with kids (I guess the dinosaur craze was in the 1980s and 1990s), and so Hasbro doesn't feel the need to remake the dinobots.

Classics Grimlock shelfwarmed. Animated Dinobots shelfwarmed (badly, I can still find Swoop in local stores). Why would Hasbro make another shelfwarmer?

Add to that Hasbro's unwillingness to make "unrealistic" alt modes, and I think the Dinobots are really unlikely. But let's wait two more days and see.

I have no problem buying a line developed for hardcore G1 fans, that I can add onto (and in some cases replace) my existing classics figures.

In regards to the Dinobots, I will hold on to some hope that the Justitoys rumoured MP Dinobots is on the way.

I have always liked subgroups so the Dinobots were always high on my list.

WHo ever makes them, be it Hasbro or some 3rd party group, I will buy them.
