The Blackout / Grindor voyager mould was a missed opportunity in my opinion. This Commander take looks interesting though. Whilst I don't expect Leader Prime levels of accuracy, the Voyager Blackout was a mixed bag of cool and clunky, the blade weapon was one such example - would have been far simple to just give him a holdable blade rather than half the alt-mode.

It's because they offer a lot at such a small size. They remind me of small diecast vehicles(though obviously no metal aside from pins) that transform into articulated robot toys. Plus the play potential with the playsets. The near-full articulation is a selling point with me, which is why I'm sticking to commanders and skipping the Legion class. The only reason I plan on having Legion figures is if they come with the play sets, and thus far I want all the play sets.

As for being a tad overpriced, I agree with you.

Awesome review, preordered one at BBTS today.

As for the price, I disagree - similar figures are $8 (like Marvel Universe) and I feel you are getting a lot more for a TF. Not only do you get the articulation, there is also the transforming aspect and a good deal of detail on them as well.

I think, also like Marvel Universe, that some figures won't be worth the $8, but the better figures will be worth the cost.

Due to poor distribution in my area I'm past the point of caring about prices anyways, since all of my figures have to come from online so I'm used to higher prices.

The only thing that could have made this figure more awesome was if he had the folding out chest cannon. I guess too small though. I already knew I was buying this figure, now I'm probally gonna buy him on sight. I am so stoked for Cyberverse. Great review man!

Because they're fun. Save the serious details and super accuracy for the larger class sizes. These Cyberverse Commanders and playsets are just unadulterated fun toys, with tons of playability.

Great review and photos, the last image is epic!! I saw him today, but at $20 (in Australia) I couldn't pick him up. I know I'm gonna eventually cave though, best Blackout toy to date IMO.

They look very nice, I am sickned by my desert legends Blackout.

Maybe they will do that repaint as well in this line maybe the evac one as well.

Ok, fair enough, I can give you and Sarnian props for pointing out the Playability factor, I think I'm mostly put off by how far off model they are (Prime seems especially bad in that regard) plus how tiny: seeing that Megaton was smaller than a GIJoe Really killed it for me...

As for the playsets, I think thats where cyberveerse really let me down: when we first got wind of it, I was super stoked and thought it sounded like a great idea, bu tof what we've seen so far, I just find the playlets lame, lame, lame with absolutely minimal interaction, playability or fun ( going off pics ) They seem less interactive then the Micromaster bases from back in the day!

Just got him last night and am pleasantly surprised by him. Definatly worth the $7.86 price tag and the little scorp is awesome, I may even make a 5mm attachment so other figures can hold him.

A scout sized figure, for a dollar cheaper then what the scout size went for, and there is complaints about price? To each their own I suppose. But good review and he looks good for what he is.

Awesome review Shin. And I love that they used the Scorpy as a gun. Deceptihunter had done the same with his custom Voyager Movie 1 Blackout that he made, and then replicated it for a custom for mine as well. Nice to see that the designers are really putting a good effort into using the best engineering into such small pieces.

Yeah, I'm failing to see how this is overpriced. I like it and I'll definitely be getting one.

sorry, maybe not the commanders (given they are sort-of scouts and do seem to have fairly complex engineering), but the legends + playsets seem like they are pushin' it at $15/16 (and i've always though Legends were pretty overpriced, they should be like $3/4 tops ~ just look at the massive difference in engineering and parts amounts between the Legends and the Scouts/Commanders ~ $5 takes them out of "matchbox car impulse buy" range for me at least)

All of these figures look amazing. I have yet to see a single one that I don't want to pick up.
