What you do may not be called "art" but speak for yourself. To build, paint and finish something that’s original and based off an idea is art to me.

Anyway to each their own, scratch away.

    Simply put, I like both.

I mean, some of my favourite films are old clunkers with bad special effects and they look great in my DVD collection, but at the same time if I go to the cinema today I expect a higher level of special effects. Which is kind of how I see G1 and nu-Classics posability and detail.

Of course, all the special effects in the world aren't as important as character and story, and ultimately this is what gets me watching films and collecting toys. For the most part, if the toy is all-new I have little interest (see DOTM Dreads, but that might change after I've seen the film) but if it is based on something I know and love from my childhood or the fiction surrounding the franchise then I am likely to pick it up. As such, Classics figures like Scourge, Jazz, Tracks and Kup really float my boat, but if you wander too far from the source you might lose the thing that made the original special (cough, Star Wars prequels, cough).
Sticking a familiar name on a unrecognisable POS won't make me want to pick it up (some movie toys, Speilbergs War of the Worlds etc...)

Nice to see so much support for both sides. Keep the feedback coming guys! :D

Also, does anyone want a poll on here to go with the question?

Aside from the G1 stuff I had as a kid, I didn't really care for them once I started collecting. Then the classics line came out, and I bought right into it.. Then I saw a few G1 figures, and I was like, ok, just this one..
A year later or so, I picked up Fort Max, and having tons of fun with him, I knew I would need something to sit next to him. Then I got Metroplex, then I got Gigastorm, then it was Menasaur, then I started buying Headmasters.. then I bought Deathsaurus, Overlord, and Black Zarak.. then I was like, holy crap, I love G1. So in my case, Classics somewhat reminded me how much I loved G1 stuff as a kid.

Why not? Better enginerring, articulation etc, while still being the original characters. I don´t have much G1 stuff (aside from combiners), and if there was a decent classics Predaking, Defensor and Menasour, the G1 versions I have would be gone in a heartbeat.
