you throw in the other two botcon seekers (thrust and dirge) and someone MIGHT think about it....as it is those seekers are going for less than $100 a pop on ebay now...people can't sell them fast enough to avoid the depreciation hit.

Isn't there any protection after that? The auction did give an estimate of the ship date. If the seller did not comply to his listing, does the buyer have a case against him?

 

Nah, last year people were ordering three PCP to display in multiple modes and "a lot more" Ramjets were supposedly made then PCP. Plus, it's not like people ordering two Ramjet are a new trend. The people who ordered two or three ramjets are the same who ordered 2-3 of everthing. Whether scalpers or army builders or multiples people missing out is just part of the hobby.

nope. paypal gives you 45 days to file a claim after the payment is sent...after that SOL...you can file a claim with ebay...but doubtful they would intervene after the 45 day period either.

 

i bought and built 5 complete nexus primes off ebay in auctions or the club store when the did their discount sells from time to time...and then sold every one of them...never could get used to that funky combiner look.

I have one heatwave left with a busted gestalt head clip...but since i want him in his bot mode...no problems...kept him to keep with my shattered glass bots...

 

Myself, I've ordered more Cheetors than Ramjets. I just got the one Ramjet for myself, and a bunch of Cheetors for other people who aren't club members.

If I'd known he wasn't gonna sell out yet, I proabably could have ordered 3-4 more Cheetors on the same order to hook people up.

 

I thought it went without saying that Cheetor was not gonna be the popular one.

 

The listing itself violates eBay's presale listing policy which states:

"Guarantee that the item will be available for shipping within 30 days from the purchase date. Be sure to clearly state this information in your listing."

The seller indicated in the listing when the item would be available, and it is not within 30 days. But then, eBay needed to take action before the buyer won and paid.

 

I thought Botcon usually kept all the figures of the same theme? Like last year was G2, 2008 was Shattered Glass, etc.

Am I just wrong? I'd be disappointed if AMTC was one of the souvenir figures only because I figured we'd be getting a couple more Animated retools (besides Cheetor's partner.)

Yes, usually they do. Or to say it another way... Sometimes they don't.

In 2009 the Razorclaw/Elita-1 2-pack was not part of the "theme", or at least not part of that story. They were figures that went with the 2006 and 2007 Botcon themes/stories.

 

Even though people like to pretend, 2007 Alpha Trion was not part of the 2007 theme. He even had a different card than the rest.

 

Preorders of items happens a lot on ebay. way over 30 days. I had a few where my order was filled 6 months later.

 

It may happen, but I think it still against eBay policy. But if everybody's happy, I guess it's OK to both parties.

 

Still sucks if a bad seller decides to prey on people.

I would recommend people wait to purchase these on the aftermarket. There were a lot made (hopefully we see numbers at some point) and I do imagine that some people will find deals at a lower price. (PCP selling at 110 a few times on ebay comes to mind).

 

Alpha Trion's an iffy. He can be dual purposed into the 2007 theme or out. 2009 was the first clear year with the Razorclaw/Elita-1 but that was also the 1st year that there were three packs. 2010's a ??? but the theme itself was iffy. It was called G2 for simplicity but was really "everything between G1.5 and RID" as the addition of the sky-byte and G1 deco'ed Gnaw/Sharkticons was out of left field. But yea, at least two packs out of every year has followed the theme.
