TFW'ers, the tornado has been a monster, F4-F5 ish. 31 lives counted so far. Here in Tuscaloosa, entire streets, blocks, neighborhoods and even an elementary school are GONE!

My family, friends and neighbors are all good but the power outages in the area are being estimated at like 5-7 days or more for some areas.

We are all blessed - I'm telling you...

My sister has been affected from the tornados. She called me today on her cell phone. She lives at Guntersville, AL in Marshall County.

About 6:30 AM, my brother-in-law already left to go to work. She heard the tornado coming and she grabbed her dog and went inside the closet.

A large pecan tree they had in their front yard is gone and a small oak tree in their backyard is busted up. Their house only has minor damage. She said the power lines are down and trees that blew down were blocking the roads.

She called me again an hour later to tell me another one of their trees in the back yard just blew down. She did'nt know if it was another tornado or a straight line wind. At the same time when she was on the phone with me, she heard the sirens going off all day.

She had some neighbors to come over with chain saws to remove the down pecan tree off their drive way. They managed to clear some of the roads.

Tonight they have no power and telephone.

    YouTube - 4/27/11 - Tuscaloosa Tornado

Somebody got footage of the tornado that hit Tuscaloosa. I used to shop at the mall that they're at, and used to work at the Tide Clean Carwash across the street from there.

All clear on my end. I live a few miles south of B'ham and it went just north. I did get to see chunks of stuff being dropped in my apartments parking lot. If not for the trees in the way I would have likely been able to watch it pass in the distance.

Checking in via phone from a mobil gas station in birmingham. Power is out in Walker county. My brother and I had to drive 40 miles to find a place with power to find food and gas. We passed a community near forestdale that has been completly destroyed. Last death toll number had AL at 130 dead. Everything is broken and in shambles. Lots of police, ambulances, and national gaurd.

I feel sorry for the people affected.

I hope Storm Chasers (Discovery Ch.) was on this tornado... I want to hear/see the story in full HD.

Thanks Shibs and Ron for the concern ;)  My redneck ass is ok! Had to find shelter twice as the last two systems brought tornados within a block of my house; one of those being the big one that took out the entire city of Pratt and almost wrecked downtown Bham. The girl is ok, she had a tornado headed straight towards her house and it veered at the last moment. Thank God.

These storms were devastating. Tuscaloosa and Birmingham were both pounded with F-5s, and Tuscaloosa is hurting badly. Pray for those guys if that's what you do.

You are looking straight down University from downtown...Bryant Denny Stadium is too the right off in the distance, as is McFarland Blvd (main thoroughfare in t-town).

There is some unbelievable photos and videos, including one of the giant heading straight toward the stadium from student condiminiums on Bryant Drive. Damn.

Man I was worried about you! I don't think people realize how bad the storms were...the videos were crazy. I'm heartbroken by the losses in Tuscaloosa...

I lost your number when I left St. Vincent's (it was tied to my outlook). Shoot me a PM with it once you get a chance so we can get up again soon.

Awesome. Now I don't feel guilty about making fun of you anymore. Redneck.

Seriously though, glad you're safe and sound. I hope the relief and rebuild effort the best and will help where I can. You and yours are in our thoughts and prayers ^_^

I talked to my sister an hour ago and she said Guntersville, Albertville and Boaz will have no power within the next week.

I have a niece who lives outside of Albertville and I thought she was spared, she has no power either.
