    It's not unique.

    They haven't tried to do anything G1 style.

    It doesn't matter what it looks like, if it doesn't have life behind it it'll suck. I'm hoping it'll have so much character behind it that it will truly be a transformers nightmare.

    Except for the part where my fiance has only seen Shockwave in the Dr. Smoove video and when she saw the banner the other day, she said, "Hey, it's mighty Shockwave!"

    They did try to do something G1 though. Why else give him one eye? Why else make him purple? Why else give him any characteristics reminisent of G1? Why give Optimus a G1-esque trailer?

    No-one can deny the G1 influences that applied to Shockwave just like no-one can deny the G1 influences that went into Optimus. Needless to say, these G1 incluences have been carried on onto other iterations of characters in the past.

    talking design wise. Not character wise. In so far as I can tell the personality is from the comics and not the toon. G1 split.

    I agree with Fish. I hope this guy just freaks the hell out of the Autobots and everyone else. And I also hope he doesn't truly go down in the end and survives to become a nasty shadow on the heels of everyone when it's all said and done. No happy rainbow ending, but an open door of more possible nastiness down the road.
